It is a major port for handling iron ore and aluminum and is the largest port in North America for aluminum. Over the past two years, nearly a quarter billion dollars has been invested in port facilities and infrastructure. The port expects to see a major increase in iron ore shipments over the next decade to over 200 million tons annually, which would make it the largest port in Canada.
