Paperderivedinflationbasedmetricallowingforrapidtransittimes
betweenpointswithoutlocallyviolatingthespeedoflight.
WorkingmechanismwasproposedtobetheYorkTime(inflation).
Alcubierremetricrequiresahaloofnegativeenergydensitywhichviolates
severalenergyconditionsandisconsideredtobeclassicallynonphysical.
ConceptofOperation
Spacecraftdepartsearthusingconventionalpropulsionsystemandtravels
distanced,wherespacecraftisbroughttostoprelativetoearth.
Fieldisturnedonandcraftzipsofftointerstellardestination,neverlocally

Inreferencemissiondevelopmentusinglowthrustelectricpropulsion

Specificmassofanarchitectureelementcanbedeterminedbydividing
spacecraftsbeginningoflifewetmassbythepowerlevel.
Transittimeforamissiontrajectorycanbecalculatedandplottedon
graphthatcomparesspecificmasstotransittime.
Ifnegativemassisaddedtospacecraftsmassbudget,thentheeffective
specificmassandtransittimearereducedwithoutnecessarilyreducing
payload.

Astheamountofnegativemassapproaches5000kg,thespecificmass

Inthissimplifiedcontext,theideaofawarpdrivemayhavesome
fruitfuldomesticapplicationssubliminally,allowingittobematured
beforeitisengagedasatrueinterstellardrivesystem.
