Battery compartment & serial output for data logging & programming

LND-712 at cane tip

Removable boot

Detector located at cane tip is sensitive to gamma radiation and high energy beta particles. Remove the rubber boot to expose the end window, causing increased sensitivity to lower energy beta and alpha particles Cane handle vibrates when alarm point is reached. Standard default settings trip alarm when more than 3 counts are detected in any one second or more than 5 in any two seconds 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack allows clicks to be monitored discreetly. For less stealthy use, plug the included piezo speaker into the headphone jack for classic Geiger counter clicking Geiger Bot (iPhone App) friendly Optional USB serial cable connects in battery compartment. User can change notification settings, and stream data to PC. Geiger Cane will also run on USB power when connected to PC, saving battery life.

Assembly, Operation and Useage
2. When you put the two halves together, align the hole of the top half with the button on the lower half. Push the button in, and slide the lower half up with a small twisty back n forth motion to get it to where the button pops up through the hole on the upper half. NOW your Geiger is fully assembled and ready for use. The rubber boot can be kept on or off. Remove the rubber boot to expose the end window, causing increased sensitivity to lower energy beta and alpha particles, however while walking with the cane, it is probably a good idea to keep it on.

1. When you receive your Geiger Cane it will be in its folded position in order for it to fit in the shipping box. Between the two halves of the cane, you will see a rainbow colored 10 banded wire. It is somewhat delicate so be careful not to bind it when you put the two halves together. Also do not pull too hard on the wire as it may cause damage to their connections. When collapsing the cane, be aware of the delicate wire when pulling the two halves apart. GO VERY SLOW when you break down the cane.

3. Power- The power switch has three positions. DOWN-Off, MIDDLE-On without vibrate, and UP-On with vibrate. Audio output is available throught the 3.5 mm jack in both of the ON positions. 4. Audio Output- The 3.5mm audio jack serves 3 functions: as a speaker output with the removeable Piezo; as a headphone jack with your own set of headphones for discreet radiation mining;.or as a Geiger Bot output jack with the included custom made Geiger Bot cable. The first two are self explanatory, but for Geiger Bot, plug the 3 conductor plug into the jack, and the 4 conductor plug into your iphone or ipad. (After downloading and installing Geiger Bot on your device) With this type of connection, you will not hear a click unless you use the Y splitter and plug your piezo into one side and the GB cable into the other side. 5. Baud rate: 19,200 Bits: 8 Parity: None Flow Control: None When connected using USB Cable, emits the following values each second: -Number of seconds elapsed since started (or last cleared) -The number of counts received in the previous second -The count rate (in CPM), averaged over the set averaging time (default is 15 seconds) -The TOTAL number of counts received since started (or last cleared) These values are transmitted in a single line with the individual values separated by the tab character (0x09). The line is terminated with a carriage return and line feed (0x0d 0x0a). Commands: Note: All of the commands used to enter settings also offer helpful guidance when using them. O or o Change the One Second Alarm. The vibrational motor will turn on for a half second when the number of counts in the most recent second meets or exceeds this value. Default value is 3. Must be less than 256, setting to 0 will disable the alarm. T or t Change the Two Second Alarm. The vibrational motor will turn on for a half second when the number of counts in the most recent two seconds meets or exceeds this value. Default value is 5. Must be less than 256, setting to 0 will disable the alarm. D or d Change the Reciprocal Dead Time. The default dead time is 0.000256 s (or 256 s). 1/0.000256 = 3906.25, which gets rounded to the default Reciprocal Dead Time value of 3906. Must be greater than 0 and less than 65535.

A or a Change the CPM Averaging time. This is the number of seconds over which the transmitted count rate is averaged. The default value is 15 seconds, meaning that the CPM value is calculated from the most recent 15 seconds. This value must range from 2 to 60 seconds S or s The current settings for all of the values for the above settings will be displayed. C or c The total accumulated counts will be set to zero, as well as the number of elapsed seconds. V or v The firmware version number will be displayed. ? A brief description of the allowed commands will be displayed. Specifically: Enter: O to change the One Sec Alarm T to change the Two Sec Alarm D to change the Reciprocal Dead Time A to change the CPM Averaging time S to show Settings C to clear total Count V for version
