The meeting was called to order. 1) Introduction of Council Members 2) Approval of April and May meeting minutes; moved and seconded 3) Guest Speakers- Becky Tankersley, Fisher Early Learning Center a. Fisher follows an Inclusive developmental school-based model and serves DU and the Denver Community b. Fisher is affiliated with the Morgridge School of Education although they have a separate budget, and employees of DU receive a 15% discount provided you are a full or part time, benefited faculty or staff, or degree seeking student however, it was never intended or designed to be a benefit for DU employees

c. Fisher uses a lottery process for admittance and randomly selects applicants based on the number of available openings for the next year (determined by budget). There is no priority given to when you turn in the application. DU applications and community members applications a separate and every applicant is notified by phone (if selected) or written letter (if not selected) d. Applications are accepted June through mid-February for the following school year and requires a $100 non-refundable application fee. e. Additionally, families with 2 or more children enrolled at Fisher receive 10% off of the oldest childs tuition rate. f. Once there is a vacancy, Fisher determines whether it will be filled with a DU applicant or community member applicant and the next child on that list receives an invitation. If the list is exhausted, Fisher will go to the late applications or the next year applications. g. Late applications are only for DU affiliates who join the University after the application deadline and are not charged the application fee unless they are selected for admittance. 4) New Business a. Call to fill the Vice-President vacancy and the secretary vacancy. Please let Stefanie Ungphakorn know if you are interested in either position. 5) Old Business a. Call for a Chair for the Staff Appreciation Picnic Cheryl Jackson volunteered b. New term for council members starts September 2013 6) Committee Reports a. Steve Rundle in the new chair of the Outreach Committee b. Any ideas for cartridges for kids Please contact Cheryl Jackson c. Staff appreciation picnic is in August Saskia will send out a list of what needs to be accomplished and the years of service notification will happen at the BBQ. 7) Departmental Reports a. Facilities: Facilities will be busy this summer with multiple roof projects and building announcements b. ID Card office: There are still Eco Pass cards left in the card office and there will be new ID cards issued in the Fall c. Daniels College of Business: The Dean accepted a new Provost position in Kentucky and they have hired 9 new faculty members d. HR: Several new professional development courses on webcentral and were invited to present at the Wellness Program with the American Heart Association, implementing a new recruiting system, Silk Roads, more information in the following weeks. HR is also piloting flex schedule/telecommuting etc. to provide data/metrics and can bring white paper proposal and they are working on a mentoring program. Minutes Page 1

e. GSSW: There is a new program in Glenwood Springs and are seeking a new program coordinator f. AHSS: The Dean at AHSS is also leaving and Rob Roberts will become the Interim Dean until one can be hired. g. Sustainability: GEARS Program is up on their website and is very interactive, including video of multiple bike to DU paths. June is national Bike month and Bike to Work is June 26, 2013. h. Colorado Womens College: New Program, Early Childhood Education will be starting next Fall. i. CME: ? j. Admissions: Getting ready for 2014 k. Morgridge: Announced the new interim Dean l. UA: Working on closing the books, just passed the $400 million mark for campaign and DU approved a 2nd round of scholarship matches Meeting adjourned.
