ACNE CLINICAL TIPS

Acne is one of the most common clinical conditions presenting in Homoeopathic OPDS. It is also one of the most stubborn ailments to manage. Acne occurs due to the inflammation of pilo sebaceous follicles. Age group of patients may vary from teenage to 25 years, rarely it may also occur till the age of 40. Homoeopathic medicines have long proved their efficacy in treating Acne. Ideally a Homeopathic prescription for Acne should be made by Individualization and selection of similimum.Constitutional medicines like Sulphur, Pulsatilla, Natrum Mur etc , where indicated ,have proved to be successful in preventing recurrences. However in the absence of rare, uncommon, and peculiar symptoms the certain tips may come in handy in the treatment of Acne. Here are some remedies for Acne with their indications. 1. HEPAR SULPH Pain Redness Pustules Hypersensitivity 2. ANTIM CRUD Effective in acne indurata Itching in heat of sun, warmth Pimples dry & Horney, nodular Excessive thickening of skin due to scar tissue formation 3. GRAPHITES Indicated in obese persons Itching Associated with comedones and constipation affected part became moist when scratching 4. RADIUM BROM Any type of acne with trio of symptoms Itching Burning Redness of face 5. NUX VOMICA Effective in acute type of acne where it is due to or associates with Indigestion. 6. ANTIM TART

Deep areola leaving stains & pock like cicatrices. 7. ASTRIA RUBENS Useful in adolescent age group Pain Redness 8. BOVISTA Successful where the cause is excessive use of cosmetics 9. STAPHYLOCOCINUM This medicine can be used as an inter current remedy in case of acne rosacea & pustular where continuous source of infection is suspected. 10. AZARDIRACTA INDICA Mother tincture may be prescribed along with indicated medicine in case of acne rosacea & pustular to counteract the source of infection 11. NATRUM MUR Pale ,dirty, oily look of skin Non-pustular acne 12. LEDUM PAL Small red eruptions with pain and relief by cold application 13. BERBERIS AQUIFOLIUM Hyperpigmentation due to acne

Auxiliary measures go a long way in reducing the severity and preventing recurrences. As a rule, patients should be given the following general advice: Wash the affected area frequently with a mild soap and water Wash hair regularly with shampoo Avoid use of cosmetics Avoid excessive use of hair products such as oils and conditioners Do not pick the lesions as this may lead to secondary infection and scarring Avoid use of ointments
