2013 INTERNATIONAL WINE CHALLENGE Cellar Master Takes Top Sparkling Winemaker Prize for An Unprecedented Seventh Consecutive Year -- the Eighth Time in a Decade NEW YORK, NY (August 21, 2013) Noted Winemaker and Chef de Cave Rgis Camus and Champagne Piper-Heidsieck earned the highest distinction at the International Wine Challenges Awards Dinner in the UK in late July. For the seventh consecutive year --the eighth time since 2004-Camus walked away with the Sparkling Winemaker of the Year award. His prized Piper-Heidsieck Rare Vintage 1998 the first vintage created under his leadership also scooped up the Daniel Thibault Trophy for Champion Sparkling Wine for the second time. Since 1983, the International Wine Challenge hosts the largest and most prestigious blind wine tasting in the world. This year, their 30th anniversary, over 12,000 wines were sampled as part of the competition. The judges panel is comprised of the worlds most distinguished Masters of Wine including Tim Atkin, Peter McCombie, Derek Smedley, Sam Harrop, Charles Metcalfe and Oz Clarke.
