Type of game: Group game, non-physical, inside or outside Country where played: Uruguay, Spain (region of Castilla y Len)

& other countries. Source: .A qu jugamos? Los Inolvidables, por Mara Ins Balbn Skills addressed: Practice with numbers, speaking, listening Number of players: 8-15 Materials needed: None Object of game: To recognize your number and maintain the rhythm of the counting Key vocabulary: limn, contar, tardar en responder, los nmeros de 1-15 Description / Rules: It's best if students are in a circle. Leader assigns a number to each player. There are as many numbers as players. Its a good idea to go around the circle once and have everyone say their number in Spanish. N 1 says: Un limn, medio limn, ---- limones y medio limn. In the blank, he'll insert the number of one of the players. Then, that player must repeat the verse and insert the number of another player. If he fails to repeat it quickly or if he doesnt respond when his number is called, he loses. For example: Player # 2: Dos limones, medio limn tres limones y medio limn Player # 3: Tres limones medio limn ocho limones y medio limn Player # 8: Ocho limones, medio limn catorce limones y medio limn Player # 14: Catorce limones, medio limn seis limones y medio limn

Game continues around and around until someone fails to maintain the rhythm or forgets his/her number. When a person makes a mistake, she is out of the game and the person to her right must memorize her number and repeat it when necessary. Play continues until there are only two people remaining. For classroom use, you could alter the rules: The loser earns a letter "L", goes to the end of the line, taking the last number, and then everyone else moves up one space, taking the number of the person that vacated that spot. This makes the game more interesting because students have new numbers every time someone loses. If someone loses a second time, they now have a letter "I". The first one to spell LIMN is out. This is more challenging but it would be good for upper level classes.
