Large groups on weekends leaving mess Visit often with kids to park. Beautiful landscaping, cleanliness, great swimming, walking, playground water levels, conditions of the roads, the beaches, very dull looking. Riding my bike there now No Change Have a child now. Less in the winter. Perhaps consider cross-country ski trails?! lovely place for a quiet shady walk on the grass while revelling in the everchanging water view. for swimming and fishing lived closer, tired facilities, no splash pad, play area dangerous We only visit in the summer I live closer Tow young kids who love the play apparatus and walking on the rocks at waterfront I didnt live in the area Good dog walking place. Better than Poplar Paws park. Young children, swimming and meals on the lawn Moved to sunset point A beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature We recently got a dog and take him to swim in the Bay. too crowded weekends, impossible to walk or find somewhere to sit. Weekends are NOT for locals anymore. kids prefer newer playground areas We used to live in Wasaga Beach and came in once or twice a week to go to the park. Wasaga Beach became less dog friendly so we moved away from there to Collingwood. Now we go to Sunset almost daily. great swimming and outdoor dining areas. swim and relax

It's close enough to my current home for a leisurely stroll most summer evenings and an occasional walk to Sobeys or Hurontario Street any time of year. Weather is better now but even in the winter I visit Sunset on a weekly basis Have moved into Collingwood recently My 8 year old grandaughter's favourite place to visit In the past, I worked on two Rotary projects, trail construction and pavilion restoration, that required more frequent visits. R I have a child who is 4 years old weather To address ? 4 we visit almost weekly in the summer ? 7 we bike to the park almost as often as we drive ? 8 we go as often just with my kids as we do meet up with friends for play dates etc It seems we visited less last summer why? need for other things to explore - Park area often walk or bike on the trails, we play in water, -play structures less visit the swings more occasional quick play on the I have children and it is the only park in town that is located centrally that is large enough to accomodate both my kids ages and stages. I have two young children Usually very crowded with limited parking .. Visit mostly in summer and fall. Not often in winter. Recently relocated here I visit more in the summer. The water level is down so I won't be swimming there as much. It's sheer beauty access to water and views of georgian bay - also for beach volleyball It's a mess, should have sand trucked in for a beach area, boulders removed from the water to make it a nice place to visit. Now have children! Not warm enough I have two small children who love the park. But it has not been updated sinse I was a small child. We go to a newer private park which we really arent supposed to use. Collingwood has 0 new public parks! Some kind of a splash pad would be nice too!

I find as my son grows we go to the park more and more. whenever i am in town, live out of the area Because my children were not in school young kids, nice weather, good spot to take advantage of both have a vacation condo/ apartment on Raglan St (Sunset Point).Am there more often in nicer weather. Children were younger... My children are older so don't go to the EnviroPark as often It is a beautiful passive place to walk I enjoy it very much. I have discovered photography (and the Chip Wagon) Our daily walk No change in visiting habits. Views I visit more now that I have kids take my grandson there when he comes to visit on weekends. In the winter months less as the wind can be bitterly cold blowing across the Bay as well as the park equipment being inaccessible to my young children. 1) I am a windsport enthusiast and use the park for water access. 2) My children are 5-8 and appreciated the play areas. We use the park daily however in the winter, access is difficult. Path should be plowed. Love everything about it. I am a dog owner and currently moved to St. Lawrence St. Discovered the Chipper No particular reason. Six generations in Collingwood Silly question. It is the only nice waterfront area in Collingwood. We love the landscape and sunset. Our grandkids like the playground and water. We all love the Chipper!

Life is busier Used to eat lunch there daily, recently got a dog and need to let him out at lunch so there is no time to get to the park same Needs facilities and a more sophisticated finish to the work already completed No longer have a dog to walk Participate in fitness activities at Sunset Point during the spring, summer and fall, twice a week. Run through the park on Saturdays. Not in canada Just the same distance Nice Weather - Play @ the park with my kid less in the past (more now) because we have kids and the park is a good destination... particularly with the ecopark, the beach, and the sweet potato fries Because it's summer and the weather is nice. Should have option to say same. Better weather I visit it more in the summer Have alway visited daily. Live nearby bordering on the Heather pathway Summer vs winter death of my Dog Park was not as well kept as it is today (gardens, bathrooms, canteen, etc) bike trails More familiar with the amenities now. its nice out,I also run every week through the park I swim and kayak with my dog in the summer all the time Live there there isn't all that much at the park for the kids. They like the sand but are more

I walk my dogs there! Watch my daughter swim. Only would visit when we have guests with children as we live on the water Working closer to the Park, so I often spend lunch breaks there. I bring my dog to swim...always on her leash. When the bays warms we'll be there almost daily for the season. Not sure what "in the past means." More with my son, who has just turned 3 years old. It is our favourite park to visit for the playground (big & shaded), access to the water, large greenspace to run / play. I used to live in the immediate area and visted the park daily. Moved away love being by the water, enjoying waterfront Lived closer to the park back then When water levels were higher and swimming accessible. Now with dogs it is not possible to let them swim anywhere on waterfront without risking hefty fines... Ironic when people aren't using it all or very much. Parking is dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians... Should be safer for children between play area and waterfront.. no interest in going there Sometimes too busy swimming Nothing to do there No young children. No change I have a 6 year old who loves to play at the "Dark Park" Live closer now.

the "beaches" are, of course quite rocky making it difficult to sit close to the water Large groups picnicking on weekends leaving a mess!! Condition of playground. parking, washrooms, safety crossing the road road, beach, lake of things to do atrocious road, bikes and pedestrians need separation, safety of pedestrians crossing the road the Enviro park has not been renewed in may years The roads are in terrible shape. bicycles forcing pededestrians off the paths. to many rocks No designated dog area for swimming. Let's face it, everyone who has a dog and brings them down to the water, let's them swim. This is a reality. Let's designate an area and we'll all feel comfortable when we visit the park. The park should be utilized by everyone. road way through park Playground could use updating, but not essential. litter little designated space for larger groups At the back of playground. - kids can run directly to pretty river parkway ... Safety concern Please do not create excess parking, that will attract a carnival atmosphere and more travelling city groups that overrun the park The park is terrible. This should be the main park in town, and yet the facilities are the worst I've seen. The town needs to upgrade the park to make it on par or better than others. You can have recycled components if that's the goal, but this park looks like scrap. Traffic calming overall is required. The corner of Niagara and St. Lawrence needs a stop sign in both directions and a proper crossing marked from the Niagara sidewalk terminus to the Park. Bicycles + skate boarders rule the park. Pedestrians are NOT safe. Sunset Point is a beach and waterfront park. NOT a cyclist speedway. Playground equipment is very dated and not good for smaller children. Sometimes the bikes come up on you quickly and most people don't use a bell

Q1. Are there any problems with Sunset Point Park that you would like to make note of?

like they're supposed to. Most people are ok, but sometimes they'll run you right off the path. 22 23 Access to water at black rock is somewhat dangerous. climbing down over the large block stones is not good Dogs not on leashes and cyclists not being considerate of pedestrians. The road is wide enough for cyclist to ride on it - on either side. When there was a marked lane for cyclists no one used it! No, the park is well maintained -the gardens & grounds are lovely, the garbage is emptied regularly - the beach is natural. Access to the water at the west end of the park is difficult for an older person with bad knees or carrying a bunch of beach stuff. I have to clamber down a stone wall. More ramp access down to the water please. (I note that there is a provision for this in the plan) Road Contitions Lack of Water / Beach Access Not enough picnic spaces (BBQ); rough road It has always been a favourite place for myself and my dog, but now having a child I notice it could be more family friendly. road needs repaving and all parking areas The Enviro park is in serious need of a makeover! I have been taking my twins to Sunset Point in the warmer months often since they were babies (4 years now). Even over the last four years the park has fallen into noticeable disrepair. The structures seem unsafe the swings are the only area of easy enjoyment. The last time we were there, there were a number of injuries from kids because of equipment combined with a child's normal reference for play equipment. The playground equipment is out of date and dangerous. I can't tell you how many heads have been bonked on those metal rods at the top of every entry to equipment and every slide opening. There is limited water access due to the low levels, but still, no encouragement to use the water Walkways should be wider, needs bicycle racks. The playground needs considerable updating with new features. It is looking old and is boring for the kids. Lack of BBQ's also the picknic tables need work. Needs a beach It used to be a nice place to spend an afternoon, children could swim in the water or play on the beach area...I may be speaking about 20 or so years ago but NOTHING has been done to make it a family favorite. Q1. Are there any problems with Sunset Point Park that you would like to make note of?

38

The Enviropark is dated and in poor repair. There are few areas for shade in the playground and in the green area. A fairly busy road separates the playground from the washrooms and the rest of the park. Park needs to be updated. Looks very junky and covered in graffiti Need designated bbq area potholes at the furthest east parking lot. The play ground is often littered with garbage and cigarette butts. The basketball court is uneven. The playground is in need of a paint job at the very least. The equipment is old, and it all looks very worn separate human swimmers from doggy swimmers Water is too low receeding water levels. Parking. Large groups occupying large spaces. State of drive to the north of the Water Plant. Garbage strewn amongst the armour stone/rocks. Envrio Park could use some updating/facelift. Having to walk across the road to access washroom facillities. Abuse of the park by large family groups visiting from out of town who move and monopolize picnic tables, monopolize fixed benches and chose not to use the available garbage containers - preferring to leave everything on the grass. Significant numbers of dogs running free at the main swimming beach (Black Rock) where the greater number of young children are swimming. There is no wheel chair accessability to get down to the water. The uneven concrete barrier is dangerous for people to walk along. There is no access to the water for seniors. The large cement blocks are breaking up and have become a safety issue. They need replaced for better access and safety . To many bikes on the trail speeding. Eliminate motorized scooters on the trail. parts of st lawrence rd are too wide; also may people dont obey 30km max speed zone; playground needs to be updated No venders High speed autos on St Lawerence. High speed bikes on trails. Need better beach area. access to washrooms some of the paths could be better

lacking dog friendly/off leash area. Outdated play equipment. More events should be held at Sunset Point Park. The lack of safety crossing the road from the Environment Park to the washrooms. Yes the roads are in terrible shape, need repaving badly, Also the basketball court needs to be repaved and fixed with new baskets, etc, There is a need for more shade either via more trees or picnic shelters throughout the park. Glaring flood lights ruin the night time atmosphere Bury the hydro wires along the street. They are old and messy looking. Repair the street (pavement) Keep the rest as is. More seating areas Old playground. no Need more parking. Playground needs updating. Shoreline needs to be bulldozed and sand added. Would be nice to have a sit down restaurant to enjoy the views and sunset! no access to washrooms in winter months garbage strewn around after weekends, especially long weekends No enforcement of dog waste pick up 1.vehicular traffic through the Enviro Park& risk to children 2. waste space north of filtration plant--ruts; potholes, etc 3.on street parking on St Lawrence at the west end of the park--road is too narrow for this Volume of traffic between the Enviro Park and the water needs to be "calmed." Secondly, the Enviro Park needs to be updated. Public washrooms do not open before 8:30 a.m. I am usually at the park at 7:00 a.m. Garbage in the park after a summer weekend Very tired. Lawerence st needs redoing at the east end Poor road The crossing at the Enviropark. Too much parking in the greenspace. Playground equipment needs updating beach not safe (undertow) road feels unsafe between playground and main park concrete walkway too curvy Poor condition of St. Lawrence St. Tree growth blocking view to the bay.

The parking lot could be better it's a little rough. Too much parking on street. Re-route the road so there is no vehicles between the play area & the water. Some areas of the waterfront are hard or difficult to access. -more garbage cans -need a water fountain -road resurface -pave the East end by the water pump station more garbage pickup needed on weekend nights. It is very basic and not very well designed or attractive. As the water receded from the shoreline many years ago so too did much of its charm. The buildings are dated and ugly. The basketball court isn't maintained. The beaches aren't welcoming. The gravel area at Huron St and St. Lawrence is ugly and seemingly too large. The open grassy area next to that same gravel area used to be a good area to throw a ball around, but now has a large planter box inexplicably plunked down right in the middle of it which limits the use of that area for anything else anymore. Make an outdoor skating rink in the winter either in one of the parking lots or on the park's open grassy area. Set up a ball hockey area with fixed nets in the summer. Too much parking and not enough green space problems re. speed limits and pedestrian crossings currently inadequate- safety issues Never enough parking wider paths to accommodate both those on foot and on bikes. Riding on rough road difficult No good entrances to the park. It is almost invisible except from the water. sometimes parking The potholes in St. Lawrence. The excess in road width. Lack of much to do at the park. Nowhere to sit at the park. Main problem is that there is a definite lack of access to the water. Ideally, we would like an easier way to get down to the water, relax comfortably and be able to just go in to cool off and have fun. Have you seen little kids bring their shovels and pails to the shale? Climbing over the big blocks of water breakers is getting harder. Rough pavement road conditions parking at Rotary Park The road between the kids park and the water front Change rooms at wet entrance are a bit dated. Water access.

water access is a bit difficult - other wise it's a wonderful place - just look a bit tired. Low water has made shale/rocky debris a problem upgrade washrooms improve the beaches parking and the park as well as sheltered picnic areas and bbq's Traffic should be eliminated if at all possible. While Parking is needed, it could be less "in your face". Can parking be moved to the extremities of the park with a limited general parking and Accessible parking spots close by. No I don't drive into town to bring my kids there but I might if Enviropark got a facelift. No - It suits my needs well None. It is a gem. The sand in the park. Hard to push the stroller around while keeping up with the 3 year old. Needs more maintenance, care I miss the swimming at the shale beach. The citidiots walk around with open alcohol... even glass. More police patrol. Accessibility my family wants to enjoy public spaces At Niagara and St Lawrence need lower speed suggest stop sign. Need Engineering to study the intersection as vehicles have on several occasions this year failed to negotiate corner and have knocked down the parking sign road crossings no Washrooms were not cleaned dogs off leash, biking on the walkway, people leaving garbage Difficulty crossing the road from playground to waterside. Aging playground equipment (though we LOVE the large wooden structures, nothing like any other park). Lack of access to water with low water levels (would love ro see a water feature). No Enviro park is really outdated - as a result I no longer take yournger family members to this area wish there were canoe or smal non motorized access points near sunset point

The roadway in front of the Enviro Park is too wide, too fast, and not well suited to being next to a playground. Not enough bike parking. Playground needs to be updated. Old facilities and limited. Unsafe vehicle drive through area instead of active transportation friendly. entry to water dangerous slip or fall hazard Enviro park needs an update or re-do too many weeds no No No good place launch a canoe I think its great

Cart in truckloads of beach sand to put on top of the rock/shale areas. Of course, maybe not right to the waterline as the sand would probably wash away. Paid parkingfor non -residents. Splash pad & upgrades to playground Gazebo for bands. re-invigorate the Enviropark Add washrooms more parking traffic calming or rerouting of the road make it bigger, take out the 4 lane road and make the park much bigger, full of activities for all ages. both proposed plans cover my suggestions Add a pavilion or similar structure to attract family and group functions Adding a lisensed restaurant with patio and small playground so kids can play. playground equipment adults can use like monkey bars, a licenced patio or a nice restaurant with a patio, a splash pad, a more accessible beach, updates to the pavillion Not Much, its natural, quiet, pleasant, a welcome break from traffic, noise, pullution, etc. maybe a splash pad for people in a wheel.chairs and people and kids that can;t swim? remove road way past playground, renovate playground, add splash pad, more tables, shade pavillions, bbq pits Splas Pad designate and entrace dedicated walking and biking paths safety of roadways surrounding the park resurfacing of roadways (know that this is in the works) Splash pad!!!! Please keep parking free Since there is concern about children crossing from the park speed bumps with signage both for drivers and caregivers should be adequate. The road does not need to be closed. A washroom on the park side of road is needed. It's perfect- perhaps a small swimpad or playground back from water for young families. The views and nature are the attraction. Please do not create excess parking or carnival atmosphere, that will attract a carnival atmosphere and more travelling city groups that overrun the park Fix the park. In addition, look at the trail in Parry Sound; great use of fitness equipment along the trail to encourage fitness.

A path at the west end to allow children and seniors easier access to the water Please narrow St. Lawrence street. If and when paving St. Lawrence, bury the utilities (Town has done so nicely in other redeveloped areas). Having an area for dogs to run AND swim off-leash (so By-law doesn't give a ticket for being off-leash) would be ideal. Perhaps at far west end which is very rocky and not used as much by humans for swimming. Make separate lanes for bikers Away from cars, children, and walkers and Racks to lock bikes to walk to toilets, concessions, tables, beach. Water park/splash pad Make people aware that they're sharing the space with others, and that everyone there has a right to enjoy the activity they are engaged in. Do your thing and let others do theirs. Respect the park and the people around you! clean up black rock beach of all the loose stones and pour a couple of concrete ramps so it is accessable by wheel chair people and seniors I like it just the way it is. I'd rather it not be paved because I believe cars will go faster if the surface is smooth. It's bumpy enough as is to slow traffic - without speed bumps being added seasonally. A Pavilion, like the one at Thornbury's waterfront part, would be great for shade, picnics, events and concerts Kayak/canoe/paddleboard rental here would be great too. Splash Pad Outdoor Skating Park i.e. London's Springbank Gardens Attractions More events for children there during special events such as Canada day with bouncy castles, children's plays, children's music. It is a great space for kids to run and play and underutilized for our Collingwood townsfolk and our children. The downtown core seems to be the only important place in town for events and there is never anything but strange people walking on stilts or a craft table. Kids want to exercise, jump, play, laugh. The people on stilts are scary for some kids. I was disappointed moving from Wasaga to Collingwood this year that Wasaga has way more family friendly events and their Canada day is fun for the family, not just about walking down town. Boring for a 4 year old. We will go to another town next Canada day if Collingwood doesn't change. build a tourist walking pier out into the bay for -Complete overhaul of the play structures -make the park feel more integrated into the whole sunset point, open it up -open up the entrance, or make an entrance to the park -take out some of the cedars along the front and plant inviting trees -Better access/ safety to the washroom facilities huge need with little kids -bike lock ups Would love to have a permanent fixture to be able to attach TRX style suspension straps while at the park for exercise...instead of using the trees. Would love to have a permanent fixture to be able to attach TRX style

suspension straps while at the park for exercise...instead of using the trees. 36 37 Would love to have a permanent fixture to be able to attach TRX style suspension straps while at the park for exercise...instead of using the trees. A splash Pad by the water would be the perfect addition to not only sunset park, but the entire Collingwood Community. We spend more money on our dogs in this town then our children and I think that it's about time we change that. We drive to Innisfil, Barrie and Meaford to use their splash pads rather than to our own backyard because we are lacking in one. WE HAVE A BEAUTIFUL WATERFRONT AT SUNSET - I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TRAVEL TO ANOTHER TOWNSHIP TO USE THEIRS! Bring in sand? Make more beach access? Walkways should be wider, needs bicycle racks. - swimming area always More seating. Bigger more interactive playground, more features possibly a splashpad The little bay could be fixed to allow easier access to launch small canoes and kayaks. Sandy beach Sand next to the water (in the big pit that's there now) clean out the boulders left in the water, clean the shoreline and let us have it back to where it is once again enjoyable. More shade, repairs (at minimum) or improvement to play structures. More accessibility of play structures for smaller children or children with special needs. Update the playground. Need bbq area and covered pavillion Better parking, better swim area Maybe summer music festival once /month Great as is. A splashpad would really add to the area. beach for swimming and sunbathing Raise the water level bandshell for music. additional trees. 57 58 Splash pad or some type of water park area. Expand existing building near volleyball courts to include large covered eating area and washrooms. Remove some trees to open up the area for added picnic area. Additional washroom/changeroom facilites. Lifeguard on site (in the supposed Lifequard Station) during the summer season. Establish clear guidelines for use of the park, sign them well and enforce them. Increase and improve parking to accomodate additional usage from day trippers and special events, along with improving safety. Replace the creasote covered railway tie parking barriers with an environmentally friendly (and legal) product. Narrow the overwide section of St. Lawrence St. from Huron to Raglan - where necessary and resurface it. Eliminate the angle parking. Improve the Enviropark with the addition of water play areas and provide a safer crossing from the Enviropark to the main park. Incude an exercise circuit in the park. Construct a covered bandshell/stage at the east end of the park (for use by local theatre groups, musical presentations, educational nature presentations, fitness lectures, occasional evening movies, starwatching etc. etc.) and add additional parking at that end to increase use of that end of the park. Add an adult exercise circuit. Move the Chipper into the existing pavillion. Improve the overall visual appeal of the park with additional gardens and care thereof. Get rid of or improve the existing basketball and volleyball courts. In the 4+ years that I have lived on Sunset Court and visited the park daily, I have yet to see one single person on either court! Eliminate outdoor cooking in any form. Increase the # of garbage receptacles. Clean up the East end on St. Lawrence St. put a crosswalk from the playground to the water side. IClean up swimming area Clean up the swimming area. Make it safer for seniors and children. bike path Enforce picking up dog poop. see above, make some modest improvements but leave most of park as is Restaurants with patios Enforce picking up dog poop. As mentioned, paving, a splash pad for kids, other recreational activity, a bocce pit,bbq pits, upgrade basketball court, tennis courts, upgrade to the beach area is badly needed, make it better for swimming, a specific beach area should be built with sand, etc, brought in, etc, sheltered picnic areas. Remove glaring flood lights implementing a "dark skies" policy. Bury hydro wires. Upgrade playground. I do like it the way it is. It has always been used for swimming a nice patio restaurant Improve parking and playground. Try to fix shoreline. Open a restaurant! Add music & entertainment at times. Limit cooking to a designated picnic area ALL Dogs on a leash and improve night lighting add better picnic tables close St Lawrence at the Enviro Park and move the Park further north. create parking south of new Enviro location use space north of filtration plant for events Water feature for the kids. Splash pad. Water fountain; open washrooms by 7:30 a.m. in the summer; empty garbage cans more frequently on weekends. Enable people to cross Lawrence with a light or cross walk Narrow the road and put in a manual pedestrian light See above Host different events @ the park Access for canoes and kayaks just west of concession stand. Pedestrian operated signal at washroom crosswalk. Beach area Larger parking lot near water plant. Some shady areas were road way is currently when it is rerouted provide more paths to the waterfront -water fountain -more shade trees BBQ "pads" by picnic tables and metal ash disposal sites nearby.

Sharpen up the borders of all the different areas with curbs, stones, planter boxes etc. rather than current lack of any formal division between street and park. Look to Blue Mountain Village for inspiration of what it could look like. A proper non-motorized boat launch area with distinct lined bouys separating swimming and boating areas. Eliminate road between enviro park and park for safety of kids. Eliminate the excess parking spots to greenery grass of flowers improvement of enviro park ie play equipment and seating for family members More parking nicer area to lounge and swim< road in very rough shape Get rid of the road that divides the park from the Enviropark I would like to see washrooms in the Enviropark area. Get rid of the not-so kidfriendly cement sewer pipes. Block in a sandy area on the shale so the waves don't take it out. Create better access to the water down near the current brick washrooms. Leave St. Lawrence going right through as is except narrower and creating a safer crossing area to the canteen from the park. Add a water feature such as a splash pad to the park area. Allow expansion of the Canteen for outdoor eating and easier access to the canteen for those who just drop by for a quick bite at lunchtime. Pave more trees/ pavillions Close off a portion of the road and make it safer and user friendly Fix the road. Stop the thru road that fronts the playground. Rehabilitate the former beach area Splash pad Access to the water. finish planting the gardens - there are several that have been started - but never finished. Clean up rock debris and have dog bags plentiful for walkers more public notice to access - public access via bike or foot traffic difficult to get across pretty rive pwy as it is now Cafe serving wine and beer. Better signage so people know about ti Maybe a crosswalk from playground/pavilion to waterside. I love the road realignment idea. It would be great to be able to walk safely between the park and the canteen.

Set of steps to the water near the windsurfing point Maybe brighten up the enviropark playground. Sand in the park. Keep it designated. keep grass and gardens in better shape Keep the roadway open...it's one of the few places in Collingwood you can drive along the waterfront. more law enforcement. A lot of dogs off leashes too. Better Terrane and parking. The enviro park is great but it is getting n to a bad state of repair Provide Xwalk with flashing light at Enviro Park, lower speed limit along St Lawrence. Food vendors with a variety of cool and different foods. Something different. put the road on a diet more food trucks Cleaner washrooms Safer road crossing Update playground equipment, keeping a natural theme. Water feature Community programs or events (evenings or weekends) Narrower road to slow traffic improve enviro park and add a splash park to it, add a small nonmotorized boat access area, bike racks, more picnic tables along the water front, amphi theater for outdoor events, outdoor classroom area, improve easier access to cross parkway for residnets - parkway effectively cuts residnets from the park particulalry our young people, make areas that are youth friendly - eg objects and public space to have fun, Update playground. Splash pad & upgrades to playground More sunny playground area. unify the park area from Enviropark to the water - remove the road/traffic hazards and allow more space for families to enjoy the park splash pad, improvement to enviro park Improved playground equipment at the Enviro park. A splash pad would be great. Lake swimming if practical. Build a beach? A splash pad would be fantastic, perhaps a new and different playground feature They will be in school or daycare most of the year, and will need adults to bring them to the park. They dont 'need' anything. a splash pad? Splash pad in the childrens area. Since the waters edge is not monitored, an area for the kids to play and get wet would be good. playground updated, splash pad, sand beach Slash pad, public swim lessons more crosswalks parking only in lots (but we'll need more space) designated play areas/pads throughout park closer to water Splash pad!!!! Block St. Lawrence opposite the canteen to the kids play park so no one runs across the street Park needs some refurbishing, not a total rebuild. Add washroom. A splashpad or updated playground The park equipment needs to be changed. I like the idea of a splach pad and safer access to the water front from park A splash pad? Freshen up the enviro-park. So many stones in the water, difficult to walk in. Could a part be cleared for young children? impossible? Water park/splash pad. More modern playground equipment, with more areas for 10 & under. Current equipment is suited for older children. Safety near the roads. splash pad

? I have taken children under the age of 10 to the playground area many times and they thoroughly enjoy it in it's present form. There has been a suggestion of a splash pad and I don't think that's necessary. The shale shoreline and low water levels are a perfect splash pad. I don't want a pedestrian crosswalk. Pedestrians of all ages need to look both way for their own safety. Cordon off a tot's swim area would add to safety. large splash pad would be a safe place for the children Refer to above A SPLASH PAD! The park is really getting outdated and is not suitable for all ages. This may be costly to change but there is a new park that is accessible in Elmira On that you should check out. New equipment, better path connection between the enviro park and the rest of sunset point SplashPad and safer playground equipment Splash pad! N/A Make parents more responsible through better public education on their duties. - water feature/ splash pad - more stairs on equipment (easier to get up) A specific area for them. see above The play ground is good for them. Maybe refresh the paint etc. Sandy beach Sand, clean beach and some attention to the shoreline. We were there tonight to see the fireworks. It would have been nicer if we didn't have to tip toe through the dog poop! A splash pad, a splash pad, and a splash pad. Update the playground, add splash pad if possible Nil I would really like to see a splash pad. Live entertainment/ educational entertainment in eco park area. sat. am zoo/plant club.

A splash pad by the play ground splash pad upgrade the playground Sandy beaches Splash pads, wading pool. See above OOPS - already put ideas in #11. Improvements to and expansion of the Enviropark to include water features. Additional seating and washroom facilities in that area. LIfeguard. Improve the crossing to the main park. I do not believe that the Enviropark should be connected to the main park by way or re-routing vehicle traffic as this will simply encourage families to camp out near the water and parents will not be forced/encouraged to personally supervise their children on the equipment instead becoming a little more complacent, feeling that it is OK to let them wander to the Enviropark unsupervised - as long as they are in eyesight. Possibly a wading pool in the park Make a crosswalk at the park so they can safely cross the road. splash pad and bathroom in the play ground Build washrooms on the playground site. splash pad in playground Update play ground Enforce picking up dog poop. Life guards better cross walk areas to travel from park to the water side washrooms splash pad plat area is fine toddler friendly equipment - smaller slides and climbing structures - SPLASH PAD!! More and updated play equipment. A closer bathroom. potential naturalized playground. A SPLASH PAD! splash pad, update of equipment in the kids park areas, swings, slides, etc, After rain or early spring - The eco park is often flooded and then mucky for playing in. More drainage could be helpful. Short basket ball nets would attract younger kids.

Playground I find the set-up strange. I don't like my kids playing in the sewage treatment area. Update the playground. Add music venue for all ages to enjoy. Improve beach. enviropark is more than adequate above see above Splash Pad. Wasaga Beach has one on the main strip for toddlers. Perhaps age specific play structure on the water side of the park, but not adjacent to the current playground structure. Upgrade the children's park same as above Washrooms closer e.g. in the Enviropark Crossing to the water safer Remove graffiti from play equipment updates to enviropark improve access to washrooms from enviropark waterplay (splashpad) better washrooms in general More seating for adults. No road to cross. They like to climb & slide, so things to allow this would be good & do not forget that the older ones want height. More playground areas -splash pad -more swings No more paving of greenspace ---- preserve grass to run around on Make paths wider in order to accomodate both bikers and walkers. Eliminate road between enviro park and park, update playground. improvement of crossing areas for children and to play apparatus sand Get rid of the road that separates the park from the Enviropark. More kid-friendly amenities. Splashpad. Updated jungle jims. Kids want to have fun and they love water. Adults want the kids to be safe.

Q1. What would you suggest to specifically make the park better for children 10 and under in age?

Splash pad at the park with seating for adults to supervise their children. A sectioned off area in the water for kids to swim would be great. Sand on the shore would help for enjoyment. Then families wouldn't have to drive to Wasaga Beach to enjoy the water and sit in the sand. 92 93 94 95 96 97 98 Update enviro park features Update and road closure for safety factor Improve the park area and narrow the road. Make the playground less dark. cross walk to play area Upgrade the playground area improve the park sand is nice but with people partying there - there are bottles broken glass needless to be found in the sand - so little kids who like to run around bare feet cannot do so - the enviro park is awesome needs to be updated No traffic No suggestions as children under 10 should be accompanied by their parents or at least older siblings. Splashpad, more shaded picnic areas, safe water access. nothing See above Sand Update equipment for age appropriate Better swimming area. A lot of the playground equipment is designed for bigger kids. more things for 0-3 year olds would be awesome. We so need a splash pad! Splash pad, washrooms in locker area new playground. Maybe a water feature. slash pad No A playground on the other side of the park, so that children do not have to cross the road. Safer, easily identified road crossing. Less large crowds on the weekends lighting Encourage regular police patrol. patrols of police cars often, and a park supervisor to keep an eye on and things in general. locker.s Environmentally friendly lighting in all areas. Not sure... Any time a female enters a park alone there is a small amount of risk. Not something specific to Sunset Point. It's safe enough. Water should be tested regularly. People swim there whatever the authorities say/ think. They deserve to be warned if water quality is below standard. P Separate bike lanes from walking lanes? It's dark in the park at night. The waterfront is great! Good job Traffic calming, particularly the crossing between the Niagara sidewalk and the Park. The park has good lighting and enough housing nearby that it is likely safe. The trail in the woods leading to town might not be however and I would like a sidewalk/path on the North side of Prettty River Parkway from Raglan Street to Sobeys as an alternative route in the winter or late evenings. I think there should be a push button pedestrian crosswalk at Niagara Street for the school crossing guard and others wanting to go to the park. I would be interested in a water quality notice board posted on a sign or at one of the buildings. Updated weekly? Daily? Providing information on the beach water quality would ease any user concerns. I remember some time back that this beach was closed due to water quality issues. security cameras in ther play area Lighting people

Q1. If needed, what do you think would make the park safer?

stargazing. 69 70 71 72 73 74 75 76 77 78 79 I'm only there mid-day. I'm sure if I were there in the evenings I would want it to be well-lit and staffed at the canteen. Plastic playground. metal slides can get hot and slivers from wood police More lighting See 11 cops on horses More lighting at night. speed bumps, bike lane Just the road. The atmosphere is very family friendly. Makes you feel safe. see #11 more lights, public space, more events, easier walking access from the parkway so there are more people in the park, build more activities and events into the park so it becomes a main destination point-currently it is not - however chip wagon is helping out in this! Strategic lighting - not just lighting up the whole thing, but well though out additional lighting in some spaces pedestrian crossings from park to water side. or close down the street entirely. The park is too close to the side of road/parking areas. bathrooms closer to play area. create sitting areas for parents. Q1. Is there enough space, equipment, or features in the Park for the activities you do?

We tend to use the word ' park' to describe a variety of recreational areas. A true park is a dedicated area with amenities for use by children of all ages. Therefore, Enviropark needs to be rebuilt, splash pads for all ages need to be added along with more washrooms . We also need organized parking for bicycles Stations for pull ups, etc Please do not increase parking or create a carnival atmosphere. Larger groups and buses from the city ruin the special and intimate nature/experience of scenery. They overrun and dominate large areas of grass and force out locals. you could incorporate monkey bars at an adult height for pull-ups. Box jumps would also be great at 20". Again, Parry Sound added fitness stations that would be awesome here. Please see comments above re: off-leash area for dogs. paved walking trails would be wonderful. lots of space available to put in a water park/splash pad! upgrades to the playground equipment would be great Designated dog beach would be nice where our dog could play in the water legally. Again would like more activities for children Something new and inviting adding an overhead bar for people to bring and use their suspension straps would be amazing. adding an overhead bar for people to bring and use their suspension straps would be amazing. adding an overhead bar for people to bring and use their suspension straps would be amazing. New monkey bars for the older kids and a splash pad for all ages would complete the park perfectly! There's a trail and that's about it .. yes, good park for the kids .. if the mosquitos don't carry them away picnic tables Just need more benches. See above comments regarding the playground. A lot of the equiptment is for older children. There are few things my 4 and 5 year old can really do on their own. There is missing pieces and gaps up high which can be confusing for small children and cause accidents as well.

See above I would like to see an adult equipment exercise circuit. A few more benches and picnic tables would be nice. The park on most days is very passive people come to swim watch the sunset etc. It would be nice to have more larger trees for shade. need for designated areas for activities The correct answer would be Yes, marginally. We use the "open space" item "g". It is important that this remain clear of permanent items like benches, signs, trees, shrubs, etc as we require 50 meter radius to safely launch and land kites. This works currently, as we can move a picnic table if required, but this is a problem is said picnic table is tied down. The point : Please keep the "Open Space" OPEN. Would like upgrade to basketball court, bocce pits, As above Sometimes there are not enough picnic tables generally OK. feels disorganized. I have a lot of suggestions under no. 20. I would use the park more if these were implemented. Could have exercise stations. Biking & walking on the sunset point trail is a bit of a challenge since many bikers do not warn pedestrians of their approach from behind. We should make it a law that all bikes have bells & that bikers use them as they approach a pedestrian. As already noted, more areas suited to ball/frisbee throwing, hockey (summer/winter) defined boating areas possible boat/kayak/canoe rental concession etc. The parking lots are a waste of valuable space as they are as yet this year ever full. often feel in walkers way when on bike, try to be considerate but paths narrow in spots There should be more for children to do and for me, I would appreciate somewhere to sit and watch them. Sometimes we have family gatherings down there or a birthday party celebration and more seating and picnic tables would be nice for that. Need better access to the waster such as a ramp over, through the wall. have a little circuit training set you can go through yourself - flat area for tai chi or yoga

Canoe/kayak area (where there is a little inlet) Cafe serving wine/beer Fishing (on the south east side beside the water treatment plant) An exercise area would be great. Taste of the Town is a major fundraiser for my Rotary Club and benefits all of the community through the funds raised at the event. have in past, are there any? Taste of the town was an excellent event! didnt know there where any! I ll go check those out! Taste of the town- beautiful, intimate event what events? On weekends the park is NOT for locals as outsiders take over the entire area, leaving no parking, picnic tables, leaving garbage etc. We try to go at shoulder times when it's not as busy so it's more relaxing. More people in the area = less care taken for those around you. People get in a crowd and stop taking responsibility. Taste of The Town Occasionally Haven't heard of any. Great area but not used enough or events aren't publicized enough Some .. again, parking. Acoustics are not optimum for outdoor events there. New to area. Have not been invited to any yet Taste of the Town is excellent! Rotary's Taste of the town and little market events. It is the best spot for these and more. Taste of the Town Went there to see the fireworks tonight, once every so often we head down there to watch the water (unless the smell from the water treatment plant is too strong). The only outdoor event that is held there that comes to mind is the Taste of Georgian Bay which is cost prohibitive and not intended for families. They are always pretty costly! Need more free fun days, face painting and other fun activities. At least once a summer. Taste of the Town. Best social event in the town great for town spirit and charities.

Special events are the only times there is a parking issue. Hardly any events held Used to when Canada Day Fireworks used to be there. There are not enough events held there. Need more events in the park. I haven't but would if something interested me.. Live music would be nice. I will now that I am a resident of the Park. fitness Jul 1 fireworks Rotary's "A Taste of the Town." Taste of the town and watching the fireworks parking feels really haphazard... should be better organized Rotary "Taste of the Town" Member of the Bein Gorm highlanders pipeband and we occasionally practice on Tues nights in the park We used to have the fireworks down here and the whole town would come. It meant for crazy traffic. Now the fireworks are in the harbour but people realize they can still come here and get a great view so it is still really busy. People come in the morning and claim their space for family eating/gathering all day for fireworks events. We have gone to Taste of the Town, camps offered in the park, Art in the Park. At one time, Fran Webster and his band would play down here like a street party. When they have them. What happened to an evening of listening to some good music Was not aware that there were many Fantastic venue - but there could be more I think Taste of the Town only Not yet craft sales I visit the park mainly to enjoy its natural state. Yes - Attended Hike It, Bike It last year there isn't very many.

baseball, volleyball, basketball, splash pads, trails, upgraded enviropark. A pavilion for group events, including ours. As noted above sandy beach at the water's edge; Rocks cleared to make a decent path to the water in several more spots. Picnic tables chained so they are in the same place all the time. a splash pad for kids and people in wheel chairs. splash pad, new playground equipment, more benchs tables, small skatepark? Splash Pad, swim lessons.... Alll fun for little ones. I don't think that the park needs much more structure. I think educating people about how they impact the park (litter, water pollution etc) and some more focus playspaces for little ones would help a lot. Splash pad. Great for young kids who may not yet have the coordination to wade into the bay but wish to enjoy the waterside environment and cool off!! Bike lock up stands , trees are being used too much. Splashpad and playground update for young families to encourage children to be active. Perhaps separate bike lanes from walking lanes so that more people feel safe. See above comments As above. Parking stickers for residents/tax payers, and paid parking for outsiders as is done at Wasaga. No. More Kiosks - for bike rentals, activity rental centres (like Blue Mountain Village) but could be run by independent/private operators. Clean up the beach at black rock and remove a few of the stone blocks so that a concrete ramp cound be poured so you can access the water safely Free outdoor music similar to Wednesday "jazz" at the museum. A few more picnic tables and trees on the east side of the park might be nice - trees in particular for more shade. Maybe a gazebo for music events....or to enhance the wedding experience. Although I have seen a number of weddings taking place in the park and they were all lovely. Pavillion, boat rentals, and other fun stuff will enhance user experience, increase user visits, and make some revenue for town! A real restaurant here would be

Q1. Are there any features, events, or equipment you would like to see added to the Park and WHY?

swell! 21 22 23 Refer to above. Dog beach As noted before more events on long weekends for children and parents. Many churches help out with bouncy castles and games for children. If you are worried about the downtown core they could set up vendor booths down at the point. Perhaps a small ampitheter area for musicians and permanent chairs like Blue. Sunset is such a beautiful place and a draw for people that would bring them back to Collingwood for more if there were a few more events and features there. But once you've been downtown once you've seen it and there is really nothing to be impressed about to go back. It's pretty bad wheno out own townsfolk go to other places to celebrate Canada day in the local area. Interactive play as above as above as above I think that you should better advertise the rental space at the park. We use it for company 'family' events, but until then, I had no idea that it existed. Splash pad for young children. I realize that the bay is right there but it's not always the safest/easiest option for families with young children. Make the pavillion more useful. Enhance the construction to have meeting rooms or perhaps for small wedding parties? Bicycle racks at several points. More doggie bags. Wider sidewalks to make shared uses more comfortable for all users. - water feature Maybe covered picnic areas. Maybe a large 30x 30(or Larger) pavillion space incase of rain etc. Open air right on the waters edge would be great. Without cleaning up the water and shoreline, perhaps adding some sand there WILL be drowning deaths this summer...I did NOT see one sign warning people not to swim and even at 10pm tonight there were people in the water. Collingwood to date has not taken advantage of it's prime waterfront location on Georgian Bay. I would love to see the park become more of a family destination with an improved, updated playground (see Neshama playground in Toronto), a splash pad, and more family events. In my experience, families are willing to travel to a park if the facilities make it worth the trip. Currently there are no parks in Collingwood or surrounding area that fit the profile. Sunset Point park is an ideal location. Jul 5, 2013 8:19 AM Jul 5, 2013 6:53 AM Jul 5, 2013 6:09 AM

New pavilion. For family picnics. Small covered areas with BBQ facilities and tables for picnics. New road for safety. Something more than a chip wagon for food. Updated clean washroom facilities See above Picnic pavilion. A splash pad. The sun gets very very hot at the park in the summer, but the lake is not always an often, especially with the younger children. more things for kids to do Music in the park place where outdoor music could be played in summer months Spalsh pads, water features aimed at younger children. Shade structures/trees. would be nice to have some type of regular/weekly event in summer to draw people to the park i.e music, family activities. Again, I already mentioned these in # 11& 17. -lifeguard -adult exercise circuit covered bandshell or stage The playground area of the park should be updated , the waterside of the park should remain relatively natural. water for drinking Playground upgraded, concerts in the park Nicer beach area with sand or grass. Easier water access. Portion a part of the beach for dogs. improved equipment at the EnviroPark bring back a band shell for musical events no This park would be the perfect space for a splash pad. There is plenty of room and it offers a place to take smaller children to cool off on hot summer days. Since the water level is so low you can't swim at Sunset Point anymore, without having to wade out 500 m. A splash pad to support added use of the park amenities. bocce pit to play bocce, upgrade basketball court, wider bike lanes, running lanes, concerts would be a great venue for concerts with a small stage area and some seating on hills for seating on grass I would like to a 'darks Skies" policy put in place. Remove the glaring flood light on the washroom. Star gazing is ruined right now.

No, leave it as natural as possible. Events on holidays ESP. Restaurant. New play equipment. Improved parking and beach! no Perhaps a venue for concerts. "Bandshell." Outdoor gym equipment. More trees would be beneficial to the natural environment and provide shade for park users. Wading pool for kids, trees for shading, benches on beach , permanent tables and umbrellas. revamp the enviropark playground... some feels unsafe picnic shelter - expand available shaded picnic area to places that are less treed waterplay - something safer than the beach more food vendors - what's there is good... would be nice to have a restaurant/bar on the water boardwalk along the water - crazy concrete trail is not attractive and the rhythm is wrong water fountain... for hot summer days better changerooms better bicycle parking pinic shelter - for groups and to expand the area available for picnics Could have a bandstand to encourage more events. Install exercise stations. Water fountain & splash pad An area where you could rent canoes or kayaks would be a nice addition. Leash-free dog park including water access out on the floodplain at the extreme West of the park (West of Niagara St. and Heather pathway As already noted, summer/winter hockey area (possibly placed where the rarely used volleyball court area is). Boat rental concession area. Grandstand for potential large entertainment venue possibly adding of bins for disposal of charcoal as visitors too often throw their coals into the bushes more seating Parks should be for all ages. Benches for seniors, bike racks for bikers, BBQ's for families, splashpad for kids, larger sitting area near concession area. tether ball, frisbee golf All that I have mentioned above. Splash pad, sand, little blocked off area in the water to cool, access to the water/shale, friendlier park with more interesting things for kids. The draw to the area is the water, sun and sand. I think that about says it. We can't access the water and there is no sand. pavilions in each of the major green-space and across the road by the enviropark

Q1. Are there any features, events, or equipment you would like to see added to the Park and WHY?

76

Fun public scupture. I support more public art and it would be a good location for more. I would like to see a foot/bike link to the spit and the rest of the waterfront park system. It's too isolated currently. Also, the swimming area is underwhelming. Splash pad - for a town on the water we have very little access to the water. A pad would offer a water experience for those who can't/shouldn't be in the Bay. Jazz in the park. a gazebo type building that could be used for events Fireworks used to be there and it was packed. Not sure why that has changed. Canada Day, August long weekend (everyone wants to be at the beach) None I can think of at the moment A swimming beach would be nice, if water levels and currents could be controlled. Outdoor music section - kids love it, promotes creative play Outdoor exercise equipment. People need to appreciate that park use is a combo of public use I would like to see Heather Pathway plowed in winter more trees better swimming area, chaneg house on east end no possibly music More events at the park would be a great feature because it would allow the public to experience the wonderful park as a community. The park is beautiful as it is, just very crowded on weekends with cars and people. We need to totally preserve/respect its natural beauty and what that offers yet maintain its accessibility to visitors. Water feature Updated playground Bike parking for bikes with child carriers Washrooms closer to playground No bike racks, connections to trails, signage in town to park and crossing features from the parkway - its like crossing a fast moving highway...not safe and unfriendly Splash pad for the kids. Bike racks for everyone. lines along pathway to seperate bikes/skaters and walkers.

I hope there are never any plans to charge a fee for Sunset Point. There are no other nice places to go to swim that are free. My Rotary Club would like to discuss allocating funds to a major improvement at the park. The old saying. If it ain;t broke, don't fix it. it is a very good place to swim and for picnic . Traffic calming measures at the kids park area (to be addressed with the repaving I hope). Reduce speeds on NIagara Street leading into and out of the park. close the street off no need for driving through park, Don't change it too much... It's amazing the way it is. Just a few small upgrades to roads, parking and play spaces will help enrich people's experiences :) Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the community! I feel that is something that is really important, as is often overlooked in this community. Please keep parking free. It's so expensive in Wasaga that I never go anymore. Please keep the focus on nature/scenery and local intimacy. Creating a carnival atmosphere or more parking/buses will only drive city traffic that overruns the grass areas and drives local use away. It's beauty is it's intimacy and the scenery. Please keep the focus on it's location, geography, families, and intimate enjoyable atmosphere. Increased density and carnival atmosphere will invite crowding, danger, and conflict. I am a neighbour of sunset point. I see people struggling daily trying to cross pretty river parkway. I also struggle crossing that road on foot. There is a crossing guard for kids during school hours, but a crosswalk with lights would help significantly. Also, speed signage needs to be better posted. Time again when asked people don't realize the decreased speed limit. There is also a terrible corner on the east end where people are driving straight through to the parking lot by the works department instead of looking to see if someone is coming around the bend going north- west. Keep up the good work! Part of the charm of the park is that it is somewhat undeveloped as compared to other urban parks. It needs only minor repair, not a wholesale re-design. Thank you for taking the time to listen to the public. Make it useful and safe for residents of ALL ages. I would advise against over complicating the plan just for the sake of change. Careful, thoughtful updates would be welcome, but they must be done with an eye towards the potential negative effects of the changes and weighed accordingly. Make sure all voices are heard, all interests are represented. Not just a vocal minority. Think of the people that are quietly using and enjoying the park as well as the vocal minority that might be trying to champion a pet cause at

the expense of others. The park is beautiful; you want to make it more accessible and enjoyable for all, not less. 16 17 I have swam at blaqck rock beach for 60 years,it is part of my routine which i enjoy. Lets clean up the beach area at black rock The park is fine the way it is so unless we have donors wanting to finance these changes it is not necessary or prudent to increase our municipal debt further by making changes. I love going to Sunset. You find a mix of activities, ages, abilities, cultural and income differences - all are welcome (and dogs too) and enjoy the area. You meet people from out of town or locals and are friendly & relaxed - less formal. I have a lot of comments outlines below: A:Navigating your blog seems a bit unwieldy. I don't like the text scrolling over the background image. Hard to read. B:The map needs to be able to be made extra large and scrollable so I can peruse the structures etc in detail. (since writing this I have looked farther back in the blog to the original presentation by EnvisionTatham which describes/visualizes the proposed changes very well) C:And though it's not your fault, hardly anyone has used the blog comments, so it's not that informative for residents and not a good tool for you to gather information. Perhaps more have filled out this survey. D:I have recently built a cottage in the North Bay area and had to jump through a bunch of hoops regarding NOT "altering the lakefront bottom to interfere with fish habitat". I note that proposals are in the plan to "import a sand beach, create modifications to the lake bottom to accommodate swimming, and shoreline and habitat enhancements to protect sandy shore from winds" which seem likely to alter the lake bottom and fish habitat. I'm not a conservation nut, and I think a sandy swim area would be great, but I'm just wondering how come the Conservation Authority is letting you do this? E:Final comment...don't let any more monster homes (e.g. french chateau) be built across the road from the park please. Any renovations should remain in character with the setting. make sure it is left as a family friendly place to visit with no admission charges I wouldn't like to see any trees cut down or too much to change the natural beauty of Sunset point but definitely more for children. The park area has so much to offer as a huge draw for the community and tourists. You need to maximize the beauty and location and make it somewhere notable that people want to visit weekly or as a destination for visitors. I love Sunset Point Park! My fitness group uses the picnic tables and inukshuk blocks for exercises as well as the grass field infront of it. We love being there. It would be nice if the washrooms were open at 7am on weekdays. I love Sunset Point Park! Q1. Do you have any additional comments, ideas, concerns that you would like to add?

would be nice if the washrooms were open at 7am on weekdays. 26 We love Sunset Park - all of it. We do, however, think it could be GREATLY improved with just a few small additions: 1: SPLASH PAD and 2: Safer playground equipment, including monkey bars for older kids. The park is fine, just needs a few tweaks. Please don't overdo it. Don't wipe out its character by making it too artificial. It is a great park and I think we should take care of it and improve it and keep it. Please reduce the amount of don't do that signs to list what you can do or reduce signage. We hyave enough peolple telling us what we can and can't do. Why wait another year, two or twenty, look at how many drownings there have been over the past 10 or so years. It's time to do something at Sunset Point. People in Collingwood are sick of leaving town to swim and tourists take one look and head for Meaford, Owen Sound or Wasaga Beach....because we don't have one. An improvement to the park entrance and traffic flow are great ideas, but only if the destination makes it worth the effort. The interior of the park needs to be updated as well. If there is room in the Town budget for mulitmillion dollar arena and swimming pool structures, there should be room for improvement for facilities that benefit everyone. Have some free music programs down there. Licensed patio. See above -possibly info on local flora, fauna, events available -concern re: noise You should take a look at the park that Holyrood Newfoundland is phasing in. It is impressive, and perfect. We don't neet any more commercialization of the park. Keep it a Park. People will bring their picnics . Sunset point is a great asset to Collingwood. The park should be for local people. Most other people bring there own food and picnic in the park only, they do not add to our economy. We clean up after them. most important is to leave park as a community neighborhood park and not to turn it into an intricate destination or tourist attraction Expand park boundary to join with Terminal spit and complete trail to there. its a nice park and unlike Wasaga has free parking Sunset point is an ideal location for kiteboarding, as this sport (unlike windsurfing) is conducive to travelling up and down the coastline. We start at sunset and ride down to Wasaga, or we start in Craigleith and ride down to Sunset. There needs to be a safe place (50m radius) to launch and land a kite. Jul 4, 2013 6:07 PM

Q1. Do you have any additional comments, ideas, concerns that you would like to add?

Sunset currently has this in the "open space" so we should keep in mind it needs to stay OPEN. Don't put a path or fixed bench right in the middle of it. While there are not many kiters using the park, it has been said by many many park users that they appreciate the entertainment value of having us there. Many non-windsports people come down to sunset on breezy days to sit and watch the windsurfing and/or kiting.(both beautiful and entertaining to watch.) 43 The park is awesome and a hidden treasure, that is why we bought very close to the park. More people need to know about it and having upgraded facilities and concerts/venues would add to the appeal and attraction of the park. Remove flood lights and replace with "dark skies". Add picnic shelters throughout the park in all areas to promote use of the entire space. Keep St Lawrence open but narrow it, create traffic calming and promote a pedestrian priority (and safety). Winter access is poor right now. The path should be plowed like the town sidewalks. RV's shouldn't be allowed to park overnight. Overall it's a very nice place in which to spend time relaxing I love the wildness of the park, i would hate to see it all smoothed out and manicured. Love the ice cream and fries! This park is my favourite place in Collingwood. Access to a great swimming area is one of the reasons I still live in this Town. should be a park for local residents to enjoy and not a destination for non-local taxpayers FIX seawall so the water is accessible by seniors via steps no Love the park. Will only continue to get better. I enjoy the natural elements of the park and would not like to see it overwhelmed with equipment Do not close Lawrence street or put a road through the park Keep St. Lawrence and Russell Streets open. Create amphitheatre in natural berm. If road upgrade is really necessary (I do not think it is necessary if the reroute is going to occur) do it very temporaily as the best long term solution is a reroute. Narrowing of St. Lawrence by the enviropark for traffic calming but keep the pavement left over (ie the angle parking area) as a parking lot --- using "dividers" Jun 25, 2013 7:24 AM

Though the park is fine the way it is, there is a tremendous amount of potential/possibility to make it so much better. Recovering the road with its poor base is wasting the public's money and the politician or public servant advocating this should be held responsible. keep as a priority the idea that this is a nature park not a entertainment area no beautiful setting, should make the most of it and Harbourview park If there was enough funds after providing the basics for a fun park, a bandshell of some sort would be nice. Good user friendly survey Way to go, Robert parking in the west end of St. Lawrence and Niagara St. can be a mess at times Thanks for doing a survey. It's good to be asked. Please ensure that water sport users continue to have access to the park. Consider accessibility for any upgrades to the playground as well as for access to the beach and water. No This is one of the few locations for quality windsurfing launch in Georgian Triangle. For the sake of the reelection of our Town Councillors and Mayor, please stop all talk of new roadways and of blocking St. Lawrence Maybe a railing around the drop off, in some spots, at the water. I believe only modest changes are needed. There is not a need for more park benches in the area put moreemphasis in improving the Harbour no I do NOT want a beach area designated only for people to use with their dogs. I would like that to remain as it is but of course with dogs under control. No Thank you for the input- hope this project is approved to its fullest and not thwarted by current council with ideas that do not represent the feedback received by the community such as ugly structures and short sighted visioning for this park. Would like to see the lower income neighbourhoods near this park be invited to provide feedback beyond this survey - try door to door to get their input. Poor families do not have access or invited to these on-line surveys nor are they comfortable or known to attend public meetings. Go to them - we know these neighbourhoods- they should have all their ideas supported first - plan to
