students with EU/EEA nationality* without a Dutch Master degree: 1935 euro students with EU/EEA nationality* that spend over 3 years of studying before in the Netherlands, for a Master degree, with or without graduation: 4608 euro Institutional fees

students with a Dutch Master (MA) degree: 4608 euro students with a non-EU/EEA* nationality: 4608 euro students without registration in a Dutch City Registry NB: legislation has not been nalised yet, expected spring 2013: 4608 euro *students with a Swiss or Surinamese nationality are treated as EU/EEA *********************************************************** Degrees Students who successfully complete the course obtain a Master of Fine Arts: MFA, a Master of Design: MDes or a Master Interior Architecture: MIA. The Master courses of the Sandberg Instituut are legally validated by Dutch Government through the Dutch Flemish Accreditation Organisation *********************************************************** Duration of studies/student workload The course is a two-year programme in which students are expected to earn 60 ECTS points per year (European Credit Transfer System). You have to conclude the programme with a nal project and a thesis. *********************************************************** Language requirements All education at the Sandberg Instituut is in English and/or Dutch. Foreign students are not obligated to learn Dutch. Dutch Government regulations (immigration services) obliges candidates from China and South Korea to sent an IELTS certicate with a sufficient score (Minimum IELTS Scores: Masters: 6.0) together with their application. In the absence of the certicate or an insufficient score, the candidate cannot be enrolled as a student. All candidates have to proof sufficient level of the English language during the admission process

*********************************************************** Grants Dutch students are sometimes eligible for study funding. In practice most students do not have a study loan or grant and combine their study with a (small) job. Unfortunately the Sandberg Institute does not have provisions for the nancial support of students. Foreign students are advised to try to obtain a grant in their country of origin. (hyperlink the grantnder from nuffic). For obtaining a grant elsewhere we cannot provide letters of approval beforehand. You need to apply (and get accepted) rst. If this means you need your application results at an earlier date, please contact the staff in time. *********************************************************** Visa (MVV) To study in The Netherlands you need to have a legal status. This means that you cannot use a tourist visa, but that you will have to apply for a provisional residence permit, the MVV visa. T his MVV-visa is only required for students from certain foreign countries. The countries that do not need the MVV visa are: All EU/EEA countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom. Canada / Japan / New Zealand / South Korea /United States of America Students from the above mentioned countries can apply for their residence permit from immediately upon arrival in The Netherlands, but before September 1st, which is the official start date of the academic year. All students from countries NOT listed above are required to have a MVV visa before entering The Netherlands to start their studies (at least before September 1st). As soon as you are accepted by the Sandberg Institute you will be notied that you can start the following steps that are necessary to obtain a MVV visa. It is only possible to apply for the MVV through the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. We will provide a login code with which you can start the application. The costs for the MVV Visa are 600 euro and 15 euro administration fee. Please transfer this amount to the account of the Rietveld Academie. We will start your application only after receiving the fee.

During the application procedure for the MVV visa you are not allowed to be in The Netherlands. After your arrival in The Netherlands we will take care of the application for the residence permit. The Dutch embassy or consulate in your home country will contact you as soon as the approval for the MVV visa has arrived. While picking up the MVV visa, ask for a combined visa (D and C visa: MVV visa and tourist visa as well). This will give you the opportunity of multiple entry, which means you are allowed to pass the Dutch border several times. You will need this to take part in excursions abroad during the application procedure for the residence permit. The costs for a tourist visa are 35 euro. PLEASE NOTE: The Gerrit Rietveld Academie/Sandberg Instituut cannot register you as a student without a residence permit. Students arriving in The Netherlands after the official start date of the academic year, which is September 1st, cannot be registered The process for an MVV visa can take up to 1 month, so you have to submit your request as early as possible. The Dutch Immigration Office (IND) will reject requests for a residence permit from anyone who has entered The Netherlands without an MVV visa. *********************************************************** Facilities The Sandberg Institute is located at the Frederik Roeskestraat 98, Amsterdam at the upper oors of the new building of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Students of the Design Department are provided with a shared general working area. Students of Fine Arts and Applied Arts have individual workplaces to which they have unlimited access. They may also make use of some technical facilities and a media workplace. Students may make use (by appointment) of the various studios of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Housing Unfortunately the Sandberg Instituut cannot provide in student housing. Also more unfortunate nding a house in Amsterdam is difficult, so you should start looking for houses as soon as possible. You could think of subscribing at Woning Web, for a small amount of money you will enlarge your changes for a reasonable house, although it could take a while, sometimes up to a year. Sometimes on special occasions DUWO -an official student housing company- can offer housing to students of the Sandberg Institute. Contact the staff.
