33 Days to Morning Glory Do It Yourself Retreat In preparation for Marian Consecration By Fr. Michael Gaitley
Fr. Michael's book prescribes 33 days of "spiritual reading and prayerful pondering." The book is broken down so that readers spend seven days each on the Marian consecration teachings of St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa, and Blessed John Paul II. Then the final five days are for review before reciting the Prayer of Consecration (preferably after receiving Holy Communion). "Because the act of consecrating oneself to Jesus through Mary marks the beginning of a gloriously new day," says Fr. Michael, "a new dawn, a brand new morning in one's spiritual journey. We are taking orders for the book, and we will begin the individual retreat on Sept 4, 2013. Consecration would then be on October 7, Feast of the Most Holy Rosary. For more information please call Eileen Maggiore at 630-396-6076.

Call to Prayer
We are looking for a few good people who want to share their faith with the young people of Christ the King. We need Catechists and assistants. As a Catechist, you will work with an assistant or Co-Catechist to share your faith through weekly lessons. We provide all the resources you need to help you on this journey. As an assistant, you will help the Catechists by helping the children stay on task. Never say you are too young because we can use High School Students too! Wont you consider answering Gods call by sharing your gifts? If we can help you discern that call, please contact Sherry Rochford 630-396-6078. Thank-you for all you do for Christ the King

On Thursday, August 15th about 40 people gathered together at Christ the King Parish to welcome our newest seminarians who recently arrived from Mexico. The gathering included people from the Diocese of Joliet Hispanic Vocation Committee, current seminarians from Joliet, and lay faithful from all over the diocese. It was a wonderful celebration of the diversity of our Church, which is reflected in our seminarians. Thank you to Fr. Peter Jarosz and his staff for hosting this wonderful event and providing lunch for the guests. Rev. Burke Masters, Vocations Director
Ordinary people can answer Gods call and transform the world.
Thank You!
Fr George Knab lead a beautiful and inspiring summer time mission on Rosary Renewal. We began Sunday with a candle light procession to the Mary statue and started with the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. When Mary said Yes, Gods plan of salvation was brought to all of us. We are encouraged to say, Yes. We all need to hear and respond to the Word of God the way Mary listened and responded. On Monday evening, we continued with the Luminous Mysteries, Jesus revealing himself as true God through each meditation. We concluded with candle light prayers and songs. Tuesday evening was an opportunity for reconciliation after we examined our conscience through each Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary. The climax of the week on Wednesday was the Glorious Mysteries and Mass. The crowning of Mary with recitation of the last 2 decades was awe inspiring. I pray for each one of us to become more engaged disciples through Mary. Thank you also to everyone that helped in a small or big way. Everything you have done to make this Rosary Renewal a success was seen by all. Many of you hosted with the morning discussions, evening preparations, or the childrens program. I feel blessed to serve with such a wonderful group of dedicated servants. Jerry Pizzotti and staff would like to thank the Council of Catholic Women 2012/13, St. Vincent De Paul Service Team, Knights of Columbus 2012/13 and the Friday Night Prayer Community for contributing to the purchase of an automatic external defibrillator in the East Room. At the present time there is one in our church, east meeting room and in the school (for children and adults). Thank you to these organizations and other parishioners who gave donations to the AED - for the safety of our parishioners. Let us pray for the safety and well being of all those who enter the doors of our campus. Fr. Peter
A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
The Gospel reading today starts with a question: Lord, will only a few people be saved? Jesus offers only a simple reply: Strive to enter through the narrow gate. Many will try to enter and will not be able. Good stewards know there is only one, narrow gate. Not everything will fit. This narrow gate has no room for our accomplishments. No room for our money. No room for our possessions. No room for anything else but those whove been good stewards of the Gospel. We cant custom build our own gates either. There is only one, narrow gate that happens to be open for a time, but for how long? What is our plan of action to get through that gate?
*As a reminder our GYM and the Parish Life Center can be rented by parishioners or non parishioners for an event. Please call Javier at 630629-1717 for more information.
