19TH MOTHERWELL BOYS BRIGADE

ST. MARGARETS CHURCH, MUIRHOUSE

Dear Parent/Guardian Welcome to the new session and welcome to the BB family that is 19th Motherwell. Section Meeting Times Anchor Section Junior Section Company Section (P1-P3) (P4-P6) (P7 -18yrs) 6.00pm-7.00pm 6.30pm-8.00pm 7.15pm-9.00pm

All sections meet on a Monday night starting 9th September 2013. Officers in charge will remain the same as last session with a number of new volunteers joining us. I anticipate that this session we will not be far off a membership of 100 and ask that because of the high numbers in each section and the limited space within the church halls please encourage your son not to attend too early. Arriving 5-10mins before the start time will reduce congestion and ensure the evening runs more smoothly. The CS boys in particular had developed a habit of arriving early. As always if any of you feel you have something to offer the company (any section) whether it is as a regular helper or if you have a particular skill/interest that you could tutor the boys on over a short period please let me know. The foot of this letter contains the contact details for staff from all sections. Please feel free to contact us regarding any aspect of the boys brigade or come and see us at the end of our weekly meeting. Uniform & Discipline We will speak with all of the boys when we start back and make it clear the high standard of behaviour that we expect from Boys Brigade members and that includes while walking to and from the BB. The staff would also like to see all boys in full uniform this year as quickly as possible. The BB shop is situated at 353 Orbiston St behind the Rainforest and is open on Wednesday nights from 7.30-9.00pm and Saturday mornings from 10.00-12.00. We also have a limited supply of used uniform for sale. If any of you have old items of uniform that no longer fit your son please hand them into the company and we will make them available for purchase at a greatly reduced price. Again we hope you support us in getting the boys into uniform as this in itself encourages personal pride and good discipline. Capitation Fees & Weekly Collection Each year the company has to pay brigade headquarters for insurance and administration purposes. The fee has increased slightly this year. The cost to enrol your son in the company will be 15 per year. This can be paid up weekly if you wish. Im sure youll agree that this is excellent value for money compared to other organisations and clubs. In addition we would ask for 1 per week collection from each boy. Communication We now live in a society where communication has never been easier. We have mobiles, e-mail, Facebook etc. Last session we made excellent use of the company Facebook page and we received very positive feedback from parents. We will continue to use the site and e-mail as our main communication. We will also continue to send home letters when required.
