From the
One of the Calhoun Honors Colleges most exciting programs is the Duckenfield Scholarship, which provides funding every year for two Honors students to study at the St. Peters College Summer School at Magdalen College in Oxford, England. The Duckenfield Scholars can choose to study in one of three areas English Literature, Medieval Studies or Environmental Studies all the while soaking up the amazing Oxford, and British, atmosphere. Its a program that can be, and often is, a life -changing experience. Please join us on Monday, September 9 (from 4:30-6:00pm at the Visitor's Center) to hear from last year's Duckenfield Scholars, and to learn more about the program and about the St. Peter's Summer School. 2013 Duckenfield Scholars Kayla Cobb and Parker Essick will make presentations based on their studies at Oxford, and St. Peter's Summer School Director Dr. Ken Addison will talk about the many advantages of the program. The Duckenfield Scholarship, as you can imagine, is very competitive, and requires a written application and (for the finalists) an oral interview. The application deadline will be in November. If you are interested in applying for 2014 or beyond, I encourage you to attend on Monday. We look forward to seeing you there! - Dr. Lasser
