This document outlines a waste management plan for offshore drilling rigs. It details procedures for identifying, sorting, recording, and disposing of various types of solid and liquid waste generated by rig operations in accordance with applicable regulations. Key steps include classifying waste, sorting it appropriately, recording disposal details, and maintaining records for inspection. The overall goal is to reduce environmental impacts and comply with laws regarding waste from offshore facilities.

PURPOSE The purpose of this plan is to manage the disposal of solid and liquid waste generated by the operational unit. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Waste can be either a resource if recycled or reused or an environmental load if deposited or destroyed. It is possible to reduce costs and environmental load by using an environmentally oriented purchasing philosophy, defining contract requirements, sorting waste, and increasing staff awareness and commitment to environmental policy. KSDR wants to comply fully with applicable environmental regulations. The authorities, clients, and KSDR may stipulate additional requirements due to local legislation or other requirements. GENERAL All waste materials (either solid or liquid), that the installation generates are identified and categorized as one of the following: Hazardous waste No hazardous waste Recyclable waste Other waste According to the KSDRs environmental policy, installations should continuously improve waste handling. To do so, waste generated by the installation is measured and integrated into the Environmental Management Plan (EMP). Waste measurement reflects the following: Waste minimization and reduction, including all decisions before the waste is generated. Waste treatment, describing measures to initiate after the waste is generated. DOCUMENTATION AND RECORDS The Garbage Discharge and Disposal Record (KSDR-02-01-125-F001) is required by International Law and MARPOL 73/78 Regulations. This record is kept on board each rig and is available for inspection by flag or country state inspectors. Documentation for waste management requires the following information in the Garbage Discharge and Disposal Record: Amount, type, and categories of waste received by the Disposal Operator Type and categories of waste generated by the installation, including waste disposal methods NOTIFICATION OF REGULATION FOR OFFSHORE FACILITIES In accordance with Regulations for Prevention of Pollution by Garbage from Ships, effective December 31, 1998, a specifically worded placard or stenciled sign must be affixed to the interior side of all doors leading from the quarters to the main deck. These regulations require a waste management plan on every ship and mobile offshore drilling unit.

Step # Process Step Description 1 Identify Changes In Legislative/Regulatory Requirements QHSE Manager: Identify changes in legislation and regulations that affect rig discharge and waste disposal aspects. Identify legislation and requirements covering collection, packing, labeling, transportation, segregation and disposal of domestic and industrial waste and hazardous waste. Communicate potential changes to Operations/Rig Manager. 2 Identify Waste Strategy And Communicate Disposal Requirements Operations/Rig Manager: Identify any needed waste disposal strategy modifications. Communicate modifications in rules/legislation/requirements to Facility PIC, as appropriate. Anticipate and plan for changes in waste management requirements. 3 Inform/Educate Rig Personnel Facility PIC: Inform and educate rig personnel about waste disposal requirements. Verify that Prevention of Pollution placards are properly placed and legible. Monitor rig for unauthorized waste discharge. 4 Classify/Sort/Discharg e Waste As Appropriate Facility PIC: Sort waste by type and classification. Bag garbage and store for collection. Discharge gray water (water from dishwashers, shower, sinks, and laundry) from rig to approved source. Bag and retain garbage until it can be transported for disposal. If more than 12 miles from the nearest land, discharge victual waste (food waste) that has been ground so that it can fit through a 1-inch mesh. 5 Deliver Waste To Disposal Operator Facility PIC: Only deliver waste that meets requirements stipulated by the regulatory authorities and KSDR to the approved Disposal Operator. The amounts of waste received by the Disposal Operator will be registered and reported to a designated person on the drilling rig.

Facility PIC /Disposal Operator: Maintain a written record of the following information on the Garbage Discharge and Disposal Record (KSDR-02-01-125-F001). This information shall be recorded each time there is a discharge to another rig, disposal into the sea, or discharge to a reception facility: Method of disposal and type of operation Type category and source of operational waste; if not apparent, include a general description of the material (pallets, compacted trash, etc.) Date/type/location of discharge If in port or dockside, the name of the dock, city, state, country If not at port or dockside, rig location, latitude, longitude or lease name If offloading to another vessel, list the receiving vessel by name, official number, or identification If at sea, make a notation of an estimate of distance to the nearest land Amount of discharge/disposal in cubic meters Type, category, and source of operation waste if not apparent Date/type/location of discharge Amount of discharge and general description of material 7 Consolidate Annual Results Operations/Rig Manager: Consolidate rig results for annual waste measures. Forward measured results to QHSE Manager. 8 File And Maintain Records Facility PIC: Maintain and file records in accordance with quality records requirements as defined in Control of Quality Records (KSDR-01-125). Maintain records on the rig for 2 years and make them accessible for inspection by regulatory and other inspectors.
