Lamar HS Band Activities: Week 3 (September 9-12)

4-Day School Week! The Houston ISD "Fall Break" is Friday, September 13, 2013. All Houston ISD Schools and Ofces will be closed for this district-wide holiday.

***IMPORTANT!*** Lamar Spirit Shirts (Includes the Lamar Band T-Shirt!)

School policy allows students to wear APPROVED Lamar HS Spirit Shirts ON FRIDAYS ONLY.Students must bring their Navy Blue Band Shirtto school with them for the game Thursday evening. During normal school hours Thursday, the students MUST WEAR THE APPROVED LAMAR STUDENT UNIFORM! Lamar HS Administrators will give disciplinary referrals to any student out of uniform this Thursday (including band students wearing their band shirt). After School Rehearsals Due to the 4-day school week, after school rehearsals this week will be Monday, Tuesday,AND Wednesdayfrom 4:15 PM - 6:30 PM. Please plan ahead for your student to be at every rehearsal this week. This week will be dedicated to putting the 2nd movement on the eld for this week's game. (After this four day school week, the normal Monday, Tuesday, Thursday after school rehearsal schedule will resume.) Pep Rally This week's pep rally will be Thursday morning (September 12th). The students should arrive by 7:45 AM. Football Game: Houston Lamar v. Beaumont Westbrook at Delmar Stadium (Houston ISD) This week's football game will take place at Delmar Stadium Thursday, September 12th beginning at 7:00 PM. Buses will depart from Lamar HS at 5:30 PM and the students will return to Lamar at approximately 10:00 PM. Game Day Meals will be provided Free of Chargeto your student, Thursday in the Lamar Cafeteria beginning at 4:00 PM.

Picking Up Students at the Stadium If you plan to pick your student up from the stadium after the game, you must notify a band director in writing by 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 11. If your student has not been picked up by the time the buses are ready for departure to Lamar HS, your student will be required to ride the bus and be picked up on campus. No exceptions will be made for the typically heavy post-game trafc conditions at Delmar. Please plan ahead accordingly. Waiting on Parents to Pick-up Students for an Exceedingly Long Amount of Time Parents: Be prepared to pick-up your student immediately upon the band arriving back to Lamar after the game. Plan ahead for trafc conditions, road construction, etc. Lamar HS Policy STRICTLY PROHIBITS supervising teachers, your child's band director(s) from leaving campus UNTIL EVERY STUDENT HAS BEEN RETRIEVED

BY HIS/HER PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN, AND THERE ARE NO STUDENTS REMAINING ON THE CAMPUS OF LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL. Going forward, any student who is not picked-up by his/her parent or legal guardian within 30 minutes of arrival to Lamar HS after any Fall Semester band event, will be suspended from the following game. Wait times in excess of 45 minutes, after arrival to Lamar HS after any Fall Semester band event will result in student suspension from the next two (2) games, and a conference may be scheduled with the Lamar HS Dean of Students, Band Directors, and Parent/Legal Guardian. Notications will be sent out via Twitter and Remind101. Instruction will also be given to the students to contact their parent/guarding in the event the actual arrival time back to Lamar is substantially different than the approximate times given.
