Lebanon Road Report

June 21, 2009

Wow!

That’s my reaction to yesterday at

Lebanon Road. It was one of
those days that we love to report
about for a lot of good reasons.

Let’s go in reverse order. After our evening services last

night, about 50 folks remained and were able to witness a
new birth into Christ! Parker
Mullican was baptized around
7:30 last night. His parents,
brother, and many Christian
friends were present. We are
so happy for this family and,
of course, for Parker.

While a new Christian is the greatest thing, that wasn’t the only
good thing that occurred yesterday.

We were blessed to lead the services at Heartland assisted living

home yesterday afternoon. Michael Rader taught a great lesson
from God’s Word and Philip Autry led the singing in a fine way.

In addition to that, JD led the

camp staff in a meeting as we
finalize plans for our summer
camp (which starts on July
5...young people, get those
applications in!!!). It is won-
derful to sit in these meetings
and see the heart of those
who will be helping with every
aspect of camp.

Of course, yesterday was Father’s

Day, so we tried to encourage our
husbands and fathers in our morn-
ing service. It was so uplifting to
see a lot of visitors present to en-
courage their dads. I presented a sermon entitled “The Cosmic Conflict for the Home,”
based upon Ephesians 5 and 6. It was well-received, even if I did cry! While we did not
have any public responses to the sermon, I hope all our husbands and dads privately made
a commitment to serve God in the home to the best of their ability.

It was also wonderful to see our attendance back up! Usually, Father’s Day sees very little
increase in attendance, but we were blessed to see a large number present yesterday morn-
ing. In fact, we made our goal! 386 were present for our morning worship services. We
are so glad to see that number, and we hope we can meet our elders’ challenge to average
more than 380 very soon. We can do it, Lebanon Road! Whom will you invite this week?

We hope that you will come worship with us soon and see what makes Lebanon Road such
a special place.
