Donna Carman Honored by Statewide Affordable Housing Advocates for Leadership & Accomplishments Servicing the Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee, Palm Beach & Broward County Areas Tallahassee, Fla. The Sadowski Housing Coalition today congratulated this years Housing Leadership Award recipient Donna Carman, executive director of Indiantown Non Profit Housing, Inc., (INPHI) which was announced this morning during the opening plenary for the Florida Housing Coalitions (FHC) 26th Annual Statewide Affordable Housing Conference in Orlando, Fla. Carman has served as director of INPHI since 1996, and in this capacity has lead the organizations efforts to provide a wide range of services to low and middle income families and individuals in Martin County, as well as weatherization assistance in the Broward, Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach and St. Lucie County areas. We are excited to present Donna Carman with the Housing Leadership Award for her exemplary leadership of INPHI and the wonderful work the organization has done to provide highly-needed services to eligible families, seniors, veterans, the physically disabled and low-income households in the Martin County and surrounding areas, said said Jaimie Ross, president of the Florida Housing Coalition and facilitator for the Sadowski Housing Coalition. Throughout their efforts, INPHI has also provided sorely-needed employment opportunities and a stable source of sales revenue for the local community. We highly appreciate the hard work that Donna and her group have accomplished, and we thank them on behalf of our statewide association and affordable housing advocate community. INPHI currently operates the Weatherization Assistance Program to service homes and individuals in Broward, Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach and St. Lucie Counties and the Neighborhood Stabilization Rental Program to provide refurbished properties to very low income families or individuals at an affordable rate, as well as provides hurricane protection and rehabilitation assistance to eligible households within Martin County. In addition, INPHI operates a number of safety net programs to provide utility and rent assistance, homelessness prevention, and employment and credit repair services. As we all know, legislative sweeps of the housing trust funds into general revenue over the past several years have left our local affordable housing programs and offices in crisis, but it is important that we continue to highlight the crucial assistance that our local organizations provide to low income families and communities, said Ross.
