    GUIDELINES FOR MEDIA AWARD 1. Period of publication/telecast between 1st September2012 to 31st August 2013 2. The news/ news-story / feature will have to be related to mental health. It should help to a. Raise awareness about mental health problems b. Improve mental health literacy c. Improve mental health care d. Help service development e. Change attitudes about mental health f. Reduce stigma about mental health g. Offer information and education about mental health conditions h. Support caregivers and address care giver issues i. Rehabilitate people with mental health problems j. Develop policies to improve mental health care 3. The nominee will have to be a journalist/ media person. 4. The selection of awardees will be done by a committee appointed by Indian Psychiatric Society, Kerala State Branch. 5. Awards will be considered only for the nominations submitted. 6. Nominees themselves can send nominations. Others also can send nominations with the consent of the nominee for consideration for the award. 3 copies of the published material should be made available to the award committee. 7. Award committee will consists of media persons and fellow members of IPS appointed by executive committee of IPS. The president and secretary of IPS-KSB will be ex-officio members. 8. Last date of submission of nominations for award is 25th September2013. 9. Awards will be declared on or before 5th October 2013. 10. The award will carry a cash award of Rs10,000 and a scroll and will be presented during the inauguration of the state level mental health day celebrations of Indian Psychiatric Society on October 10th of 2013.
