Guess who turned 20! The Volunteer Center celebrated its 20th Anniversary this year. Student volunteers who won the 20 for 20 competition and $500 in textbooks were: Korynn Nestell Stephanie Cumper Shelby Eagan Courtney Parkhill

Summer service opportunities


Isabella Community Soup Kitchen
Volunteer duties vary from washing/peeling vegetables, preparing salads, cooking, serving, labeling donations, washing dishes and cleaning the facility. Volunteers are needed Monday through Saturday from 8am-2pm. and Sunday from 9am-2pm. You must sign up for at least a 3 hour block. Call (989) 772-7392, Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Visits with the elderly


Commission on Aging needs volunteers to participate in one hour weekly visits with an older adult who has similar interests. Partners are encouraged to organize activities that include reading, crafts, cards, games, visiting within the home, shopping, etc. A six month commitment is needed. Humane Animal Treatment Society


HATS provides a valuable public service in emphasizing the vital importance of spaying and neutering, preventing the suffering and death of countless unwanted animals. Humane Animal Treatment Society is always looking for volunteers. Different opportunities include walking dogs, playing with cats, general office work, etc. Contact HATS for more information on volunteering. (989) 775-0830

Habitat for Humanity ReStore


The Habitat for Humanity ReStore always needs volunteers to help out with miscellaneous tasks around the store. Volunteers work the cash register, stage products on the floor, reorganize the warehouse, pick up and sort donations, and a variety of other tasks. Store hours: Tuesday - Friday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm For additional information call Habitat for Humanity at 989-317-9118 or e-mail director@hfhic.org.

Event service opportunities


Le Tour de Mount Pleasant
Le Tour de Mont Pleasant brings hundreds of cyclists and visitors to the Mt. Pleasant Community. By doing so, our economy is positively impacted from small shops, downtown eateries and larger chains. The time that volunteers need to be at the site depends on which area and shift you are interested in. Volunteer opportunities include: Road Marshals- Direct riders out on the race route and help pedestrians cross the street. Motorcade-Drive a Lead or a Follow vehicle/motorcycle in the road race on Saturday. Registration Table-Help check in registered riders and kids for the childrens race. T-Shirt and Swag Bag Table-Help sell T-shirts and hand out swag bags to registered riders. Logistics-Set up/take down race route

Special Olympics Summer Games


Each summer Central Michigan University hosts the Michigan Special Olympics Summer Games! This year the games will be held from May 30th to June 1st. If interested visit OrgSync or stop in the Special Olympics office for more information.

Art Reach Picture Program


Art Reach Picture Program is celebrating its 28th year and is need of volunteers! Picture Program visits over 9,000 K-6 students and helps them learn about great artists through time, what the world was like during the time of the artists life, and the many different styles of art. Background knowledge is not needed to volunteer in the program. A one hour training session and future research will be provided by Art Reach.
