Our Safety Culture & Capability Manager is directly responsible for developing the Safety Culture and Capability Strategy for the Qantas Airlines Group. In this position you will engage and influence senior stakeholders to obtain buy in and drive execution of Safety Culture and behaviour change, while ensuring the safety promotion and learning and development programmes in Qantas are integrated with safety and risk management systems also. Working across diverse business units, by ensuring this integration with other strategic initiatives, you will be able to influence culture and behaviour change from Executive level to front line operational level. You will be responsible for:

Leading the Safety Culture Change and Capability Programme to obtain executive endorsement and execution of a Strategic Safety Culture Plan for Qantas Airlines Developing a Safety Culture strategy for presentation and endorsement by Executive Management and providing strategic advice to Senior Management on

Safety Culture Change and Human Factors policy Develop, implement and manage Safety Promotion and Human Factors education program across Qantas Airlines business segments Evaluating tools for measuring successful safety culture change and implement programs for measuring safety culture improvements in the business Contributing to major safety investigations by providing specialist culture and human factors expertise Ensuring the effective management of cultural and human factors aspects of safety across Qantas Airlines Representing Qantas at relevant industry and regulatory forums

To be successful in this role you will display:


Post-graduate qualifications (Masters/Doctorate level) in Organisational Psychology, Human Factors, Organisational Learning or a related area Proven success developing and implementing a Safety Culture Change Strategy in a large, high reliability industry Significant experience at an Executive Level managing safety for a large organisation Sophisticated stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels across diverse business and functional units Experience in developing Safety and Culture Change Board Papers Practical experience in the application of human factors principles and initiatives to improve operational safety and efficiency Demonstrated experience working with safety regulators Superior communication skills, both written and verbal Proven ability to manage complex research tasks and analytical projects
