PRESS RELEASE
Suspects Charged in West Orange Homicide
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and West Orange Police Chief James Abbott have announced that authorities have charged two individuals with the September 3, 2013 homicide of Sandy Yuen. Yuen, 57, was stabbed to death during a robbery at her West Orange apartment. Yuen was caring for her 20 month old granddaughter at the time of the incident. An investigation by detectives from the Essex County Major Crimes Task Force and the West Orange Police Department has led authorities to charge Carline Inginac, age 21 of West Orange and Rakeem Scott, age 18 of Newark. Inginac, who was arrested by detectives early this morning, and Scot have been charged with Murder, Felony Murder, Robbery, Unlawful of a Weapon ,Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, according to Assistant Prosecutor Ralph E. Amirata, director of the Prosecutors Homicide Unit. Inginac is being held in the Essex County Correctional Facility and Scott is currently at- large. Bail was set at $500,000 for Inginac and $750,000 for Scott. Acting Prosecutor Murray commended the efforts of the West Orange detectives as well as the detectives and assistant prosecutors from her Major Crimes Task Force. Acting Prosecutor Murray also thanked the Roseland Police Department, for assistance provided during the investigation. The investigation is continuing according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly and anyone with information is asked to contact Task Force detectives at (877) 847-7432 or (973) 621-4586.
