Indian Standard
VITREOUS SPECIFICATION FOR INTEGRATED SQUATTING FOR MARINE USE PANS
0.
FOREWORD
0.1 This Indian Standard was adopted by the Indian Standards Institution on 19 March 1979, after the draft finalized by the Sanitary Appliances and Water Fittings Sectional Committee had been approved by the Civil Engineering Division Council. 0.2 A series of Indian Standards are being formulated for water supply fittings and sanitary appliances for use on board ships. The special requirements for fittings and appliances for use on board ships are intended to be covered in these standards taking into account the prevailing statutory regulations as well as the requirements laid down in other countries for the fittings. It is hoped that these standards will give guidance to the indigenous manufacturers in making water supply fittings and sanitary appliances to suit the requirements of shipping industry. 0.3 This standard is being formulated to reduce the overall height of integrated squatting pans to ensure minimum clear height above the pans required by Mercantile Marine Department. 0.4 This standard generally incorporates the requirements under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 and the rules thereunder; in addition, sanitary fittings for sea-going vessels are subject to approval by the Government of India under the said Act and Merchant Shipping ( Crew Accommodation ) Rules, 1960. 0.5 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance with IS : 2-1960*. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
*Rules for rounding off numerical values ( raised
).
