APPLICATION DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

MAHASARAKHAM UNIVERSITY Graduate Programs

Applications may be submitted anytime. Accepted applicants may commence study at any time of the year but coursework commences in June and November each year. Applications for graduate programs should contain: A. Completed application form with the applicant's photograph B. Application fee payment There is a 300 application fee. Applicants will be required to make the application fee payment in person at the International Relations Office, Mahasarakham University. Application in person can be made by the applicant or any representative. Payment must be in Thai Baht and in cash only. C. Official university or college transcripts Both undergraduate and graduate with course grades received should be included. Photocopies are not accepted. D. Proof of graduation Applicants must submit one of the following for both undergraduate and graduate degrees: (a) University/college issued graduation certificate or official letter (original copy). (b) Photocopy of diploma certified by school office. (c) Transcript indicating degree received and date of conferral. For applicants currently in their final semester of a master's program, please submit a letter from your thesis supervisor affirming both the expected date of the thesis defense and/or completion of all requirements for the masters degree and the date on which the degree will be officially conferred. E. Applicants whose native language is not English

Students whose native language is not English must submit an official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score. This test should be taken not more than five years before the application date. Please note: this requirement is waived for applicants who have obtained a degree from an institution where all their courses were taught in English and English is the official medium of instruction.
F. Three letters of recommendation The letters should be from persons familiar with the applicant's academic work and capacity for research and writing of a post graduate program. Applicants for the doctorate program should include one letter from their master's thesis supervisor. G. A statement of purpose It should clearly show the applicant's proposed dissertation topic, capacity to pursue it and how the degree fits into the applicant's career plans. H. A copy of the master's thesis or research paper (OPTIONAL) An applicant who does not have a masters thesis should submit research papers that s/he wrote during their masters candidacy. If the thesis/papers are in a language other than English, a detailed summary in English should be included. The summary should include the main argument and conclusion, research methods and analytical techniques deployed and descriptions of each chapter/section. I. A letter of financial support or bank statement

Students receiving a scholarship should provide a letter from the supporting organization showing details of support provided. Self-funding students must provide proof of their ability to support themselves financially for the duration of their study program. Anticipated cost of fees and living expenses would be approximately US$6,500 per year.
J. Health Insurance Arrangement During the period of study in Mahasarakham University, students are required to purchase a local health insurance upon your arrival from a Mahasarakham University based insurance company.
Documents printed in languages other than English should be translated into English and certified by a school official, an official agency, an embassy or consulate.
