A church with open arms, loving hearts, and a desire to bring glory to god

This Week: Sunday, September 22, 2013

10:00 Worship I will likely bring to a close the series of services that focus on events recorded in the Bible that took place in Egypt. Abraham was given the promise of God before going there (Genesis 12) Joseph was taken there as a slave (Genesis 37-50) Moses was raised there and called to return and lead Gods people out of bondage (Exodus 1-3). Abraham, Joseph, and Moses have one thing in common Jesus Christ. Pray and meditate over Jesus journey to Egypt recorded in Matthew 2:13 -21.

Message from Pastor Reid

God Never Says Oops!
Rick Warren wrote a great book published in 2002 titled, The Purpose Driven Life. The sub-title of the book is What on Earth Am I Here For? Early in the book Warren suggests we are not here by accident! I quote from the second chapter: Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of God (Isaiah 44:2) ..God made you for a reason and decided when you would be born and how long you would live (Psalm 139:16) .Nothing in your life is arbitrary. Its all for a purpose. When we make God the reference point for our lives, meaning and purpose is given (Romans 12:30). Consider this poem by Russell Kelfer:
You are who you are for a reason. You're part of an intricate plan.
You're a precious and perfect unique design,
The parents you had were the ones he chose,

You are who you are for a reason,

You've been formed by the Master's rod.

And no matter how you may feel, They were custom designed with God's plan in mind, And they bear the Master's seal.

You are who you are, beloved,

Because there is a God!

Called God's special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.

Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb, No, that trauma you faced was not easy.

And God wept that it hurt you so;

But it was allowed to shape your heart

You're just what he wanted to make.

So that into his likeness you'd grow.

Blessings, mercy, and love to you this week. Keep looking up!

Pastor Reid

Silent Bid: Handmade Quilt & Stand

The Whitakers have made the donation of a beautiful quilt and stand to raise funds that go to help us fulfill our mission. Place your silent bid at the display, which is located at the entrance to the Venue. Bids will be received through the end of September. All proceeds will go to support out Outreach Ministries.

Deliver: to rescue, liberate, or redeem; to turn over or give up to.

The Bible speaks about different kinds of deliverance: - from danger (1 Samuel 17:37) - from illness (Psalm 103:3) - from trouble (Psalm 34:17) - from slavery (Exodus 20:2) - from enemies (Jeremiah 38:10-13) - from Satan (Luke 13:16) - from the fear of death (Hebrews 2:14-15) - from all fears (Psalm 34:4) - from sin (Galatians 1:4)

One of the great provisions of our Lord is deliverance. God has moved since the beginning of time to deliver His people, regardless of the circumstances. Consider Psalm 34:19 A righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers from them all.

Thought for the Week

We have set our hope that God will continue to deliver us. 2 Corinthians 1:10
