A pronoun is a word used in
place of a noun or another
pronoun as a substitute.

Etymology: pro (forward; acting
as substitute) + noun
DEFINITION:
Antecedent is the noun or
pronoun that a pronoun stands
for; it usually comes before the
pronoun.

Etymology: ante (before) + cede
(go)

Examples:
Kim lost her softball mitt.
