Health Insurance

Insurance
International students should purchase their own health insurance for the first six months of their
stay in Taiwan, until they are eligible to enroll in the National Health Insurance Program. Overseas
insurance should be certified by the Taiwan Overseas Representative Office in the students country
of origin or the nearest Taiwan Overseas Representative Office.

Background and Regulation

According to National Health Insurance Act, any foreigners who have stayed in Taiwan over
six months are obligated to underwrite in the NHI system. Hence, all NKFUST international
students need to underwrite either in NKFUST or other associations.

Process of the Payment

After a student under writes in NKFUST, he or she needs to go to the "Office of General
Affair" and pay NT$749 per month.
