Lim files motion to refer Tee Keat to privileges committee

Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat to the Rights
and Privileges Committee for allegedly
misleading the House on the Port Klang
Free Zone (PKFZ) issue.
In a press conference in Parliament
lobby, Lim said Ong had misled the
House when presenting his ministerial
statement on PKFZ on Monday as the
minister only mentioned about the
cabinet decision made on Oct 2, 2002,
that the PKA was allowed to buy the
1,000-acre land from the Selangor
government at RM25 psf but failed to
state and explain the cabinet decisions
made on Oct 23, 2002, that the price
was changed to RM10 psf, resulting
in the ministerial statement being in-
comprehensive, unreasonable and not
transparent.
In his motion, Lim accused Ong of
having violated the rights and the free-
dom of an MP, “therefore this matter
should be referred to the committee for
further action.”.
“As Ong also accused me of mis-
leading Parliament, has he submitted a
motion to refer me to the committee?
“Shall we jointly approach the
speaker to ask that both these motions
of privilege be given top priority so that
they are debated next Monday and that
both motions, his and mine, be debated
together?” he asked.
On the accusation, Ong had hit back
at Lim stating that the latter actually
knew that the Cabinet decided to revert
to RM25 psf on Nov 6, 2002, when he
was told about the decision by former
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Awang
Adek Hussin.
Lim said: “Ong is attempting to
be a David Copperfield in Parliament,

appendices which MPs cannot touch,

charade that he is utterly powerless

all MPs?
