Social Studies Students will know the symbols and meaning

Reading-Students will learn words that rhyme Writing Students will be able to create a story based on a silly experience they had with rhyming (similar sounding) words. Science-students will know the steps of photosynthesis

Field Trip Information

Reading

This month we will be reading Silly Sally. This book is about Sally on her way into town on her hands and begins to start a small parade! This book will help the students understand the different sounds and meanings between two words.

Students will be able to color one or all of the characters and write on sentence telling about what they remember about the character in the book while rhyming.

Writing & Vocabulary


Vocabulary Words (from the book):

Students will create a story, using words that rhyme, about a silly experience in their life. Students will read another book, of their choice, and pick out the words that are similar out of the book Students will take turn reading an assigned book in their group (this task is made to help one another out with sounding words out).

Mathematics:
When it comes to math, students will learn and have the ability to count money! Students will know how much a penny, nickel and so forth is worth. Also they will learn the numerous ways of making change out of these coins.

Counting Money

Students will complete worksheets on counting money Students will work in groups and name numerous ways they can create change for a certain amount of money (i.e. $5 dollars).

Science: Photosynthesis
In science, students will know the process of photosynthesis, and how energy and oxygen are created! Students will then understand what roles the sunlight, water and carbon dioxide plays when it come to giving us the oxygen we need. *There will be numerous ways the child will be tested on this material.
Students will get in groups

and create a chart explaining their understanding of photosynthesis and the steps that occurs.
Students will be tested on the

order of the process of photosynthesis and the role each process plays.

Social Studies: Symbols of United States Government


Students will know the symbols of the United States government. Students will know the meaning of the symbol and the importance of it to the U.S. government.

Students will be tested by matching the symbols with the main point of the symbol Students will work in groups and pick one symbol and write a brief sentence or story explaining what that symbol means (in their own words).
