Guitar

Groups Semester 1
This project was introduced 9/9.

Project Goals: 1) get the students working on specific skill sets that may come in handy throughout their independent study of guitar and 2) get the students looking for resources that have a direct application to the course while maintaining a relevance to student life outside the class. Projected Outcomes: 1) The students interacting in a way that will be cooperative and positive (there has been a lot of off task learning during work time). 2) Those that are already succeeding in class can help those that may be having trouble, in a peer tutor/group environment (provides a new perspective and style of instruction). 3) The students can arrange/re-mix their chosen songs but everything must be written down so they get more practice with key signatures, time signatures, note writing,

Check sheet: Project 1 Date Assignment Monday 9/9 Come up with a group name Monday 9/9 Everyone pass first playing test (Stringdom) *individual* Monday 9/9 Chose a song to learn/arrange for your group (get this approved by Ms. S) Friday 9/13 Pass off chord progressions in C (1st line of chord chart in resource manual) Wed. 9/18 Pass off Au Clair de la Lune in pairs (book, page 26, #45) Friday 9/20 Pass off chord progressions in G (2nd line of chord chart in resource manual) Wed. 9/25 Write out the melody for your song. MUST INCLUDE: o Chorus o 1 verse minimum o key signature (may be different from original) o time signature o correct notes and rhythms with good musical handwriting Friday 9/27 Pass off chord progressions in F (3rd line of chord chart in resource manual) Wed. 10/2 Pass off Aura Lee (2 people play melody, 2 play chords, switch) Friday 10/4 Write out the chord changes for your song. MUST INCLUDE: o Chorus o 1 verse minimum o correct location for changes (written on top of melody) o proper notation (ex. Cm for minor chord, etc) Tues. 10/15 Perform song for Ms. S (recorded, video and audio) Tues-Fri Watch video (link provided) *** ALL VIDEOS ARE PRIVATE and may only be viewed with a password Friday 10/18 Fill out performance assessment and provide Ms. S with your group and individual grade.
