FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mission of Mercy Project Offers Free Dental Care in Grundy Richmond, VA September 24, 2013

3 The Mission of Mercy (MOM) program returns to Grundy, VA on October 5-6, 2013 offering free dental care for up to 500 underserved and underinsured adults and children from Southwest Virginia. The MOM project will be held at Riverview Elementary and Middle School, in conjunction with the Remote Area Medical (RAM) program. During the two-day project, over 150 dental professionals and other MOM volunteers will offer services to anyone in need on a first come, first served basis. The dental clinic will be open on Saturday, October 5, from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 6, from 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Services will include cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, and dentures. In addition to the MOM dental clinic, area residents will also benefit from extensive medical and vision services throughout the weekend. Partnering organizations for the project include Henry Schein, VCU School of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene, Remote Area Medical, The Health Wagon, Virginia Health Care Foundation, Virginia Department of Health-Dental Health Program, DentaQuest, Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation, and the Virginia Lions Club. "For nearly 15 years, Henry Schein has been proud to partner with Mission of Mercy to expand access to care for underserved people in communities throughout the country," said Robbie Schureman, who is a field sales consultant and liaison to the Mission of Mercy for Henry Schein, as well as Vice President of the Virginia Dental Association Foundation. "Mission of Mercy events are so invaluable to those in need, and Henry Schein is fully committed to supporting these efforts." The Mission of Mercy program provides free dental care for underserved and under-insured Virginians through mobile dental clinics held in strategic locations around the State. Since 2000, the program has successfully completed 70 MOM projects, served nearly 52,000 people, and provided over $32 million in free dental services. Additionally, it has become a national model that has been replicated in 26 other states. MOM is one of three programs funded and operated by the Virginia Dental Association Foundation, the charitable and outreach arm of the Virginia Dental Association.
