Blood Donation Camp

The Youth Red Cross of P.K.R. Arts College for Women organized a Blood Donation Camp on the 12th of December 2012.Dr.G.P.Dhanapal, Medical officer and Dr.S.Manimozhi have presided over the camp. Around 14 students of various departments have voluntarily donated 14 units of Blood to the Government Hospital, Gobichettipalayam.Our Principal Tmt. JagathaLakshmanan and theSecretary Thiru. P. N. Venkatachalam appreciated the students for their noble service and encouraged them to continue such service in future.

Anemia Awareness Camp

The Youth Red Cross of P.K.R. Arts College for Women organized Anemia Awareness Camp on the 21st of December 2012.Dr.S.Sathyasundari and Dr.Kavitha gave individual attention to the students whose Haemoglobin count was from 4-6 and 6-8.They also spoke on the importance of haemoglobin. The girls came to know about various factors regarding HB and few health tips were given to them.

JANUARY: Spectra 13

On 3rd January 2013Spectra 13, an intercollegiate meet was organized by the Department of Physics, where more than 145 students from different colleges participated. It was inaugurated by Dr. K. Pongal Celebration

The institution being managed with the knowledge of culture and tradition, celebrated Pongal festival on 9. 1. 13. The students cooked sweet Pongal in mud pots along with traditional dances such as Thappatam, Karagattam, Kummi, etc. Workshop on filing of tax Department of Commerce organized a workshop on filing of tax returns for the final year students on 19th January, 2013. The resource person made a presentation on the procedures involved in filing of tax returns along with a demo using Form 49A (Application for allotment of permanent account number- PAN) and Form 16 (Certificate for TDS on salary).

National youth day

National youth day (150th birthday of Swami Vivekananda) was celebrated in the college premises of P.K.R Arts College for Women on 21-01-2013. The programme was organized by the NSS unit of the

college. Various competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed by Dr. Bhuvaneswaran, Head, Dept. of Cardiology, PSG Hospitals, who was the guest of the day. He insisted on physical, mental and spiritual health through his enthusiastic speech. Ms. D.Iswarya Gopalakrishnan, Assistant ManagerIDBI Bank, Mumbai opened a discussion on Managerial Implications of Marketing Activities on 23.01.2013 organized by the Department of Management. She also assisted the students in the product launch activity. Essaywriting, Painting and Oratorical competitions were held by the Department of Tamil on 24th January, 2013 regarding Voters Day. On the same day an awareness rally was also organized with the help of the NSS units.

A forum on Organic Farming was conducted on 5th February, 2013 and more than 50 farmers in and around Gobichettipalayam werebenefited by the programme. A session on Emotional Management by Dr. Shenbaganathan, Professor of Commerce, Alagappa Arts and Science College was arranged on 08.02.2013 by the Department of Commerce. On April 6th the valedictory function of the union activities was organized. Mrs. V. Hema was the chief guest, who spoke on women empowerment. Handing over ceremony was done by the present office bearers to the future office bearers. NSS valediction was held on 8th April 2013.The Chief Guests were Mr.K.M.Pachiappan, SBA, LIC and Dr.G.P.Dhanapal, Government Hospital, Gobi. They encouraged the students to continue their service to the society.

Our benevolent management gives free education, free boarding and lodging to 65 talented sports students of our College. INTERNATIONAL LEVEL ACHIEVEMENTS: A remarkable international achievement for this year is that our student S.Marshal Mary of II M.Com CA was the only player from South India to represent Indian Beach Kabaddi team and the team secured First place. NATIONAL LEVEL ACHIEVEMENTS: 25 of our students were selected to participate in various games at National level. OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS: Our Kabaddi team has won prizes in various tournaments conducted in the following places.
