Preparation:
These resin Santas are ready to paint, so there is no prep! Any slight imperfections can be lightly sanded. Wipe with a damp cloth.

Painting Instructions:
RED SANTA - With each Santa, I started with the striped robe underneath. Basecoat this with Bleached Sand. Let dry. I then alternated stripes on the robe with French Grey Blue. Let this dry then drybrush a bit of Bleached Sand 1

over all. Basecoat the main robe and his hat with Antique Maroon. (No need to worry about the trim at this point) Drybrush over the main robe & hat with Rookwood Red, then again with Tomato Red. I then base coated all of the trim, on his robe, at the bottom, his cuffs and trim & ball of his hat all with Fawn. Let dry. Drybrush all of the Fawn areas with Bleached Sand. Once youve nished the trim, I painted the straps across the trim at the top with Antique Maroon. I then base coated the mittens with Uniform Blue. Once dry, I drybrushed them with French Grey Blue. Santas beard and mustache is based with Driftwood. Try to make sure you get your paint down inside all the creases, but dont let it puddle! Drybrush over the beard with Bleached Sand. Basecoat Santas face with Fleshtone. With Fleshtone and just a touch of Tomato Red mixed, drybrush his cheeks & nose. We will nish the details of the face later in another step. Basecoat his bag and the tree trunk with Espresso. Let dry. Drybrush each of these area with Traditional Raw Sienna and then again with a bit of Fawn to highlight. The tree is based with Hauser Dark Green. Once dry, drybrush it rst with Avocado and then highlight the edges of the branches with a bit of Bleached Sand. Once everything has dried, I created a wash by thinning Traditional Burnt Umber with water and Easy Float. With the larger shader brush, I washed this mix over the Santa - just work in sections. Once you have washed an area (make sure the wash gets into all the creases), take your piece of soft cloth and wipe across the details. This way, the dark wash will stay only in the creases. You can leave it as dark (or as light) as you prefer. Let the wash dry completely. Once it has dried, I did go back over the trim with a bit of Bleached Sand, as it looked a little darker than I wanted. I also went back over his beard as well. We can now complete the face since the wash has helped dene his features. I painted the eyes with Warm White with a small Black dot as the pupil, then a tiny Warm White dot as a highlight. You might want to use the tiny end of a stylus to add the tiny dot. I painted the eyebrows with Traditional Burnt Umber then went back over them with Bleached Sand. With a mix of Fleshtone and Tomato Red, I painted his lip. Last thing to complete this Santa was to paint the clips on each end of the straps that are at the top of the trim by his beard - I used Dazzling Metallics Copper for that. GREEN SANTA - First thing we want to complete is the striped robe underneath. Basecoat that with Bleached Sand and let dry. Then add alternating stripes with Rookwood Red. Once those are dry, drybrush lightly over those stripes with Tomato Red to highlight. Once that is dry, drybrush lightly again with Bleached Sand. Basecoat his 2

entire coat/main robe and his hat with Hauser Dark Green (no need to worry about the trim at this point.) Once this has dried, drybrush those areas with Avocado. Basecoat all trim, (trim and ball on his hat, and all trim on his coat, including his cuffs and the part going across the bottom) with Fawn. Drybrush over those areas with Bleached Sand. I also based the straps going across the trim at the top with Hauser Dark Green as well. I base coated his mittens with Antique Maroon then once this was dry, I drybrushed over them rst with Rookwood Red, then again with Tomato Red. Basecoat Santas satchel (and strap) with Espresso. Once dry, drybrush over these areas rst with Traditional Raw Sienna and then again with a bit of Fawn to highlight. I painted the inside of the lantern with Marigold. Let dry. Then I painted the rest of the lantern with a base of Honey Brown. Once this was dry, I painted a coat of Dazzling Metallics Copper over the Honey Brown areas. BLUE SANTA - First thing we want to complete is the striped robe underneath. Basecoat that with Bleached Sand and let dry. Then paint the alternating stripes with Grape Juice. Once these are dry, drybrush lightly over all 3

the stripes with Bleached Sand. Basecoat his coat and hat with Deep Midnight Blue and let dry (no need to paint the trim at this point). Then drybrush the coat with Uniform Blue and then once again with French Grey Blue. Let dry. Basecoat all trim, (trim and ball on his hat, and all trim on his coat, including his cuffs and the part going across the bottom) with Fawn. Drybrush over those areas with Bleached Sand. I also based the straps going across the trim at the top with Deep Midnight Blue. Basecoat his mitten with Grape Juice and let dry. Highlight the mitten by dry brushing with Wild Orchid. I then base coated the bell with Honey Brown. Once this was dry, I repainted the bell with Dazzling Metallics Copper. I painted the dinger of the bell with Black. I base coated the rocker part of the rocking horse with Hauser Dark Green. Once dry, I highlight this with Avocado. Basecoat the horse in Espresso. Once dry, drybrush the horse with Traditional Raw Sienna and then again with Honey Brown. Add just a touch of Fawn to your brush to highlight here and there on the horses body. Hooves, tail and mane are painted solid Black. I highlighted the mane and the tail lightly with Driftwood. The eye is also Black with a tiny white dot for a highlight. The reins are painted in solid Tomato Red. The inside of the saddle is based with Rookwood Red and then highlighted with Tomato Red. The trim around the saddle is based in Hauser Dark Green and highlighted with Avocado. With a mix of Fleshtone and Tomato Red, I painted 4

his lip. Last thing to complete this Santa was to paint the clips on each end of the straps that are at the top of the trim by his beard - I used Dazzling Metallics Copper for that.

Finishing:
Once the Santas were dried I decided that I wanted to eck them to give them an appearance of snow. With an old toothbrush (or splattering tool) I used Bleached Sand to lightly ick over the surfaces of all three Santas. Once this was dry, I was ready to seal! Today I spray sealed each one with DecoArt Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher - Matte. Once the sealer has dried, they will be ready to display!!
