NEUROSCIENCE MSc
Neuroscience aims to understand how the brain works and is one of only a few areas of scientific exploration where fundamental discoveries are yet to take place. This MSc provides students with an excellent grasp of the key areas and cutting edge research in this field.

Degree Structure
Mode: Full-time 1 year; Part-time 2 years Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits. The programme consists of three core modules (60 credits), two optional modules (30 credits) and a research project (90 credits).

Degree summary
The programme maximises students' transferable skills, by providing training in: Laboratory research in cellular, molecular or systems neuroscience (depending on choice of research project), Data analysis, Computer literacy, Oral presentation skills (research and data presentation), Critical appraisal of up-to date literature journals and Time Management.

The UCL Division of Biosciences is one of the largest and most active research environments for basic biological research in the UK, and UCL has one of the largest, most dynamic and exceptional Neuroscience communities in the world. This master's in Neuroscience at UCL draws upon this world leading community to provide students with an up to date picture of cutting edge Neuroscience research. The majority of our students take up PhD positions in Neuroscience research both in the UK and abroad and completion of this programme equips them for an excellent future scientific career.

Dissertation
Students undertake an original research project investigating topical questions in cellular, molecular or systems neuroscience which culminates in a 6,000 word dissertation and a 1,000 word report.

The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials and laboratory projects. Lectures are by active, international class researchers in their field of Neuroscience specialisation. Student performance is assessed through unseen examination, coursework, and the research project.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences, life sciences or related subject area, or a medical degree (MBBS), or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Applicants with an appropriate professional qualification and relevant work experience may also apply.
