Program

The Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra next year will celebrate twenty-
five years of bringing orchestral music to the Cannon Valley area. The
Welcome orchestra is composed of talented musicians from all walks of life in
Northfield and the surrounding area and performs several concerts each

Wedding Day at Troldhaugen Edvard Grieg Ruth Sylte has been soprano soloist with the CVRO twice previously.
For the past three years she has been an invited performer at Norsk
Norwegian Dances Edvard Grieg Høstfest, North America's largest Scandinavian festival. She also has
appeared numerous times in Northfield Arts Guild theater productions

Nordic Jam
The 17th of May is Norway's "National Day" that celebrates the signing of
the Constitution of 1814. It is a day of celebration of freedom, Norwegian Gangar, from Lyric Suite Edvard Grieg
independence, and the rule of law. The national flag flies everywhere!
People dress in their best clothes, especially if they have the traditional
"bunad" typical of the area of the country they originally come from. The Last Spring Edvard Grieg
Everyone is wearing a bit of ribbon in red, white and blue—the colors of
the flag. Parades, especially children's parades, are held in towns and Huldigungsmarsj from Edvard Grieg
cities everywhere in Norway. King Harald and Queen Sonja greet the Sigurd Jorsalfar Suite
people formally from the balcony of the palace in Oslo as they watch the
grand parade up Karl Johans gate. Norway's Constitution Day is also
celebrated with concerts, picnics and family gatherings throughout the Norwegian Music
whole land. Many Norwegian-American communities across the United Kristin Valle, Maria Brønstad, and Anlaug Grave
States also celebrate this day with parades, music, ethnic foods, and

Nordmanns-Forbundet (The Norse Federation) was founded in 1907 as
an international organization that promotes solidarity between Norway Barnetoget (traditional children’s parade)
and Norwegians abroad. It furthers the cause of Norwegian culture and Nordic Jam
Norwegian interests worldwide. The Northfield, Minnesota, chapter of
Nordmanns-Forbundet was founded around 1930. The chapter
traditionally meets four to six times each year to hear distinguished
Dessert and coffee served by
speakers or performing artists. Members also receive a quarterly Sons of Norway Nordmarka Lodge
magazine, The Norseman. For information on how to become a

The Sons of Norway is a large and active social and insurance fraternity Norwegian National Anthem
of men and women of Norwegian descent, or anyone else who wishes to
