Looking for a good book in the CJH library?

We have nearly 50 new nonfiction books to choose from. We are also looking forward to the Scholastic book fair, which officially begins Monday November 4th, to get some awesome new fiction books. Meanwhile, a recommended read from our library would be Proxy written by Alex London. Knox was born into one of the Citys wealthiest families. As a Patron, he has everything a boy could possibly want including a Proxy to take all his punishments. When Knox breaks a vase, Syd is beaten. When Knox plays a practical joke, Syd is forced to haul rocks. When Knox crashes a stolen car, killing one of his friends, Syd is branded and sentenced to death. Syd is Knoxs proxy. His life is not his own, until he decides enough is enough and he will not die for Knoxs transgressions. A fast-paced thrill ride full of nonstop action, heart-hammering suspense and true friendship. A must read.

Things you can do to prevent the spread of lice

Head lice are common in children ages 3 to 12 years of age. The possibility of getting a case of head lice increases any time children come together. Head lice infestations may occur throughout the year but the peak times are back-to-school periods; this includes sleepovers, holidays etc. Lice do not jump, fly or swim, but they do crawl. They are transmitted by direct head to head contact. They also can be passed indirectly through coats, hats, scarfs or shared combs and brushes. Keep hats and scarves inside their coat pockets and sleeves. Tie long hair in ponytails or braids. They do not transmit diseases. Animals are not a source of human lice. They are not caused by poor hygiene. They are not a serious medical condition and do not spread disease. Check your childs head every week for head lice and/or nits. Check around the ears for nits and the crown of the head for live head lice. Head lice are tiny wingless insects, grey/brown in color and about the size of a sesame seed. Nits are the eggs of lice. They are oval shaped and are found close to the scalp. They are firmly stuck to the hair shaft and must be manually removed. If you find live head lice treat immediately before sending them back to school. Continue to check all family members for the next 3 weeks and remember to clean the environment. To manage, control and limit the spread of head lice, school employees shall report suspected cases of head lice to the school nurse. The school nurse will examine the student. If live lice and nits are found, the childs parents will be notified immediately and the child will be picked up from school. Parents will be required to begin treatment as soon as the child is sent home from school. The child will be excluded from

The parade includes approximately 30 student organizations and teams from the high school as well as bands from Channahon Junior High and Minooka Junior High. Parade Route: Begins at MCHS Central Campus and heads north on Wabena Avenue, east on Church Street, South on Arrowhead Drive, west on Mondamin Street, south on Wabena Avenue and concluding back at MCHS Central at 5:00pm. A Message for all students who plan to attend Minooka High School Football Games
This year, just as in previous years, there are some basic guidelines that we at MCHS ask visiting Junior High students to observe when attending the home games.
Those guidelines are as follows: Junior High students will only be permitted entrance to the game when accompanied by a parent/adult. This parent/adult must remain at the game if the parent/adult leaves, so too must the Junior High student. Junior High students may sit with their parent. If the student chooses not to sit with their parent, he/she must remain in the designated area for Junior High students. Junior High students must be in possession of their Junior High School student IDs

OUR DRUG-FREE PLEDGE

The faculty and staff at CJHS are committed to promoting the safety and well -being of our students through our ongoing anti-drug efforts. We believe that we are blessed with some great students and an outstanding community, however, the impact of drug abuse can be felt in all areas. Students are aware that the possession, distribution, or use of drugs at school or any school related function is absolutely prohibited. The school reserves the right to search school property and equipment owned or controlled by the school (such as lockers, desks and parking lots). Although we believe that our students make good choices in regards to drug usage, we also believe in being diligent in the deterrence of any and all drug abuse. We also intend to allow local law enforcement to conduct drug -dog searches to help ensure a safe and drug -free environment at least once every school year.
