Reaching Out

This will be the churchs 4th trip there since Pastor Randy arrived. Even though missions is a relatively small part of our time and budget, it serves

as a valuable means to lift our eyes to other fields where the Lord is working. The teams bring new hope, ideas, and vision when they return.

The gym was a great venue for the Fun Fair game night

Life Is Passing By
FCC lost another founding member this past month. Much that we take for granted today was built by a generation that is aging and are in their Golden Years. We need to thank God and them for all they did, and continue to include them in todays ministries. When I think back on some of those who have passed on to their reward, I wonder who will step up to fill their roles. On our first Sunday at FCC, Vic & Rachel took us out to eat at Pizza Hut with no advance warning. Will you be the one to show hospitality? Or will you be too busy?

Almost every Sunday for the past 9 1/2 years I knew I would not be the only person in the building from 8AM onward because Pete (when he was alive) & Alice were always there (the 7AM slot is still open if someone wants to join me :-) My understanding is that the Gills did this all the years their girls were growing up as well. Did you catch that? They got the kids up early to be at church early so that they could serve (they didnt use children as an excuse to be late). Who among our younger half is willing to start such a tradition with their own family and model the way forward for another generation? It is one thing to miss someone when they are gone - it is quite another to actually do something about it - something that lasts decades and become part of your own legacy to your family and local church. Sometimes people think the only reason you would be that committed is because you are paid to be. Not true. These folks were volunteers. And, by the way, even when I wasnt a pastor, I was a committed member of the local church. It is a matter of the heart, not the paycheck. Use us, Lord, to reach a new generation...
