FOCUS Base System 2,500 (lite) 6,000 (full)

The FOCUS base system is a modular integrated software design suite. The base system comprises the graphical user interface (GUI), the extended database structure, control and integration of the various (user) modules and post-processing tools. For some single modules the lite version is sufficient whereas other require the full version. For each module this is indicated with * or ** respectively.

Rotor Pre-Design, Aero-elasticity I* 6,500

For the aero-elastic pre-design of rotor blades a dedicated module is available. With this module the aero-elastic performance of rotor blades can be determined and stability analyses can be performed without the need for a full turbine model or a detailed blade design. This makes it easy to scale up / down an existing blade design and modify it to become the basis for a new blade design.

Turbine Design, Aero-elasticity II** 11,000

The Turbine design module includes the Aero-elasticity II code for the calculation of the combined aerodynamic and structural behaviour of the complete turbine (including tower). Load cases according to IEC and GL can be generated automatically. Apart from the wind field generation this module also includes functionality to generate waves and streams. It has a build in controller and in addition dedicated controllers can be used.

Queue Manager** 2,500

The Queue Manager can be used to run jobs on a separate calculation server. Jobs are scheduled from work stations. This is in particular useful for load set calculations. For calculating the load time series a multi-core version is available. Typically when using a 24 multicore functionality the 1500 time series can be calculated in one or two days.

Blade Design** 14,000

This includes a unique 3D Structural Blade Modeler, which allows users to interactively model rotor blades in detail. While defining the blade step-by-step, the interactive 3D visualization gives direct feedback of the design changes. Common structural analyses (strain, stress, strength, fatigue, buckling, modal, tip deflection etc.) using an advanced beam model approach can be performed. These analyses are based on load time series, generated by the turbine design module, or imported from external software like Bladed and Flex.

FEM for Blade Design** 5,000

The FOCUS FEM provides a composite thick shell finite element that supports tapered layers. The FOCUS FEM module provides the functionalities like static structural analyses, Puck failure criterion, composite thick shell elements, Full layup (individual plies), RBE3 elements for load introduction.

FEM Mesh Export for Blade Design** 1,200

With the FEM Mesh Export module, the blade model created in the Structural Blade Design module can be converted automatically into a finite element mesh. The finite element mesh can be exported to general purpose FEM software like MSC.MARC, MSC. NASTRAN and ANSYS. Finite element mesh is thick shell element based and contains the full layup information. Both linear and parabolic elements are supported.

Bladed 4 Interface** 1,200

Blade data from the Blade Design module can be exported to Bladed 4.x (GL Garrad Hassan) for calculating the load case time series by Bladed as an alternative for the calculation by FOCUS6. For the structural analysis of the blade, Bladed load sets can be imported automatically.

FEM for Support Structure Design** 6,000

The FOCUS FEM for (offshore) support structures contains an interactive substructure modeler to allow creation of custom substructure designs, like jacket structures. The elements are beam elements. The modeler supports grouted members and members filled with water. The module exports the substructure data (Craig-Bampton matrices and modal shapes) to be used in the Turbine Design module.

Noise Emission* 7,000

The noise emission module (requires Aeroelasticity I module) calculates the sound power level of the wind turbine blades and sums it to the overall wind turbine sound power level. The Rotor Pre-Design, Aero-elasticity I module is required to use the Noise Emission module.

Training Free of charge (for basic training)

Although the software is very user friendly, the possibilities the software offers to the users are very extensive. Therefore the base system and all the modules include a training session at WMC or via internet (requires an adequate level of command of English). Based on the modules purchased a dedicated basic training session to learn how to use the software will be organized. This can vary from half a day to about a week, depending on the amount of modules. This basic training is for one licensee at the time and will be planned in mutual agreement. The training includes a certificate for successful students. The training material is included with the software and can be used as self-study material as well.

Overview Perpetual licenses

Multi-user license 7.5% per extra user

Multi-user licenses via local network dongles (floating license) are available. For each additional user the price amounts to 7.5% of the list price. This also applies for the M&S agreements. For additional single-user dongles (node locked license) please request for a quote.

Maintenance and Support (M&S)

Regular updates and on-line support are included for the first year in the price. Thereafter the M&S services are available at 15% per year of the list price of the software. The number of support hours a year is limited to the list price divided by 1000. We have never experienced that this according to our customer was not sufficient.

Training
The cost of training is included within the initial license, either perpetual, 1-year, trial or educational. Additional trainings can be provided.

1-Year License

A 1-year license is 50% of the perpetual license list price. For upgrading it to a perpetual at the end of a 1-year license is 60% of the list price .

Trial License

A trial (two months) license is 20% of the perpetual license list price. For upgrading it to a perpetual at the end of a trial license is 90% of the list price.

Educational Licenses

For educational institutions licenses are available at a reduced price. Both licenses for class usage and for individual Ph.D students are available.
