THE ARTS & SCIENCE UNDERGRADUATE SOCIETY

of Queens University
ASUS Announces Undergraduate Science Journal KINGSTON, ON The Arts & Science Undergraduate Society (ASUS) is excited to announce the addition of a second academic journal within the Academics Commission. The Queens Science Undergraduate Research Journal (QSURJ) is a peer and faculty reviewed journal that will feature original research and review articles within the scope of biomedical sciences. The journal is an initiative of Life Sciences students Rishad Khan and Daniel Meyers, who will serve as the Editors-in-Chief for 2013-2014. The project has received support from ASUS on the student level and through Michael Kawaja, the Associate Dean, Life Sciences and Biochemistry, on the faculty level. In addition to Kawaja, the editorial board of professors is confirmed to include John Carran, Ken Rose and Madhuri Koti among others. This student-led initiative is a very exciting opportunity for our science students to publish their research in this intramural journal stated Kawaja. The launch of QSURJ has the full support of my office as the Associate Dean Life Sciences and Biochemistry. I am looking forward to the release of the inaugural QSURJ issue by the end of this academic year. QSURJ is something that will have tremendous benefits to not only students, but Queens as a whole said Rishad Khan, one of the Editors-in-Chief. Im very excited to see how this journal will elevate the breadth of undergraduate research at our university. Co-editor Daniel Meyers stated that this journal has the potential to help Queens students achieve concrete recognition for their contributions to the academic world. This journal fills a crucial void in the current state of undergraduate studies at Queens said Adam Grotsky, the ASUS Academics Commissioner. Giving science-oriented students the opportunity to become published at the undergraduate level is an invaluable experience that has been overlooked at Queens for far too long. QSURJ is currently hiring for positions on both the student editorial board and the executive team. Applications are due on October 11 and can be found at the ASUS Core, 183 University Ave., or on the ASUS website, www.queensASUS.com.
