Work is being done on the HVAC system of the church. They are also installing a generator for the church so that without electricity, the church will be able to maintain some heat so the pipes wont freeze. If that ever happened, there would be a disaster. Work is also being done in the rectory. The rectory was built in the 1960s when electricity was cheap. The rectory is all electric: heat, hot water, stove, etc. A gas furnace is being installed to heat at least part of the rectory. A generator is also being installed for the refrigerator, freezer and new gas furnace. All this is to save money in the future. New bay windows will replace the two windows of the rectory that are leaking and not insulated. All this work is being made possible because of your generosity. Thank you. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to all couples who are celebrating wedding anniversaries in October, November and December 2013. We would like to recognize you and honor you during our next quarterly liturgy for married couples on Sunday, October 13, at the 10:00 a.m. Mass. Please call Arlene & John Martancik at 508-385-3623 and give them your name so you can be honored at Mass.

OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE ROSARY: During October, Our Lady of the
Cape Rosary-Making Ministry will have a table set up in the back of the main church to celebrate the month of Our Lady of the Rosary. Please come visit the display to view the works of the rosary ministry and to get inspiration from Our Lady to pray the rosary as she requested. Pray the Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary to obtain peace in the world...for she alone can save it. When you pray the Rosary, say after each mystery: O Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of your mercy. Our Lady of Fatima, July 13, 1917 Our Lady of the Capes Rosary-Making Ministry invites all families to pray the rosary together, ideally at home or even via Skype. Pray the rosary with a friend or tune in to EWTN or Catholic TV and join in a worldwide family. Pray for the intentions of Pope Francis, for priests, for vocations, for peace, and for the holy souls in Purgatory. Be an active co-missionary!

THRIFT SHOP
Weekly special: 1/2 price on childrens clothing. We are now accepting your clean, resalable winter clothing donations. Correction: In the October calendar it states that the Thrift Shop will be closed on Columbus Day. That is incorrect. The Shop WILL be open.

MENS CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING will be held on Monday, October 7, at

9:00 a.m. in the Parish Center. All members are encouraged to attend.

RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6: Almighty God,

Giver of all that is good, we thank you for the precious gift of human life. For life in the womb, coming from your creative power. For the life of children, making us glad with their freshness and promise. For the life of young people, hoping for a better world. For the life of the handicapped and disabled, teaching us humility. For the life of the elderly, witnessing the ageless values of patience and wisdom. Like Blessed Mary, may we always say yes to your gift. May we defend it and promote it from conception to its natural end and bring us at last to the Father, to eternal life, in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

MENS CLUB OUTING! The Mens Club of Our Lady of the Cape Parish will visit the Cape Cod Coffee Roasters facility at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8. There will be a tour of their modern facility and a tasting. The firm is located at 348 Main Street, which is also Route 130, in Mashpee. The Town Hall is located just next door. Both US 6 and MA 28 are convenient approaches to Route 130. See you there! THE LADIES GUILD monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 8. This will be our Day of Recollection starting with Mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by luncheon and the business meeting in the Parish Center. The Gift of Serenity will be the topic addressed by Father Pat in the afternoon. All Ladies of the parish are invited to join the Guild. WANTED KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS

PARISH NURSES OFFICE will be OPEN Monday, October 7, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Parish Center. Stop by and have your blood pressure taken. If you have a medical question, the Parish Nurses would also be happy to help you.

October 9, at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center. Prayer is faith in action-come share your faith with us this Wednesday night.

FREE HEARING TESTING on Friday, October 11, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Parish Center. Why not take advantage of this free service?

FAITH SHARING-Thursday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center . New members are welcome to join this group which gathers in the Parish Center. Generally, the sessions last approximately one hour. They include some prayer, music, the readings of the coming Sunday, and a brief commentary, followed by sharing around 4 or 5 questions. It is important to realize the faith sharing group is not a bible study or a discussion group. Please join us on Thursday. HELP TO HAITI: We recently sent a financial report to the Parish Twinning Program for our help to Haiti. We were surprised by the numbers during the past 18 months. We were able to send $206,439 to Haiti. This is all because of the generosity of our parishioners and friends. Thank you!
CATHOLIC CANCER SUPPORT GROUP of Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main Street, Centerville: Meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be on October 8. A Mass of the anointing of the sick will be offered at 6:00 p.m. in the church followed by a meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center which will include a speaker and refreshments. The speaker will be Marsha Danzig, author of the book Fierce Joy in which she tells the story of her journey as a Cancer survivor and how though her serious illness she found the seeds of hope to cope with the big questions in her life. The support group welcomes not only cancer patients but all people and families dealing with serious illness of body, mind and spirit. Please join us on the 8th. NEW DAY BEREAVEMENT PROGRAM: If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, please consider our 8-week program New Day, designed to help you work through the tasks of grief. The program is based on the premise that sharing ones thoughts, feelings and experiences with others in similar situations is one of the most helpful ways to move beyond the pain caused by the loss of a loved one. It is not a therapy session. It is an opportunity to journey from grief to healing with others who have also experienced loss. The program will be held on consecutive Sundays from October 13 to December 1, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. in the St. Joan of Arc Parish Center. Registration is necessary. For more information and to register please call 508-240-1119.

FLU CLINIC: The Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod will conduct a Flu Clinic in cooperation with the Brewster Board of Health and the Council on Aging on Wednesday, October 16, from 10:00 - 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Cape Parish Center. YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE AT www.ccmedicalreservecorps.org/vaccination-clinics. You may also contact the VNA of Cape Cod at 508957-7629.
