Issue 6 9th October 2013

Dear Parents, CHOIR CHANGE OF REHEARSAL TIMES The choir has been successfully established and has taken place on Thursday lunchtimes. I would like to ask all parents to allow their children to attend choir at the new time of 3.15pm each Thursday after school. Children should be collected at 4.15pm from the main entrance. This will allow us to use the hall and give us more time to learn a multitude of songs for approaching events. I hope this is not inconvenient. I have asked the children if they have other clubs or events that would prevent them from coming at this time and it appears to fit in well. EARLY DOORS Just a reminder to say that infant doors are open from 8.50am and junior doors are open from 8.40am. The junior doors will however close at 8.50am and children should enter the school via the front entrance. Many thanks. SPANISH CLUB I would like to confirm that Spanish Club will continue take place after school on Thursdays until 4pm. A previous message was sent out owing to the time change of Choir. LIBRARY YEAR 1 AND 2 The library has now changed from Thursday lunchtime to Wednesday lunchtime. Please ensure your child is aware which day to bring their library book back to school. Any money or reply slips can be posted into any of our grey secure boxes located around school. Small brown envelopes with school stamp can be purchased from the office 50p for 25.

HARVEST FESTIVAL 17

TH

OCTOBER DONATIONS ARE MOST WELCOME!

th

We would be most grateful for any donations arriving in school from next Monday 14 October. These can be placed in each hall on the ledge to show the children the amount they have collected! I would like to invite our parents along to our KS1 Harvest Festival Assembly on the 17 October at 11am which will be held in the infant hall. The junior children will have a similar event at 2pm which will take place at St Aidan s Church. This event unfortunately will not be open to parents due to lack of seating capacity. The juniors and infants will be asked to bring in any food for these events so that they can be donated from the school to a local food bank linked with St Aidans Church for the community of Bamber Bridge and Walton le Dale. Food that is donated should be in date and dried or tinned. E.g. Pasta, rice, noodles etc. SCHOOL DINNERS We have sent out a new menu to all parents for children receiving school dinners. I would like to point out that this one looks so much better that the last! Debbie, our school cook, is delighted with a much more sensible range of options that children will enjoy. Please have a good look and decide if your child would like to have a hot dinner as the colder weather approaches. I would like to inform parents that all children will be given a healthy choice on their plate (vegetables) each meal. ADMISSIONS TO PRIMARY SCHOOL SEPT 2014 If anybody has any children whose birthdays are between 01.09.09 and 31.08.10, please be aware that you are th required to select a school before 15 January. This, for the first time, must be performed online. SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMISSIONS Just a reminder - that all parents of Year 6 children must register their three high school choices with the Lancashire st Admissions Team by the 31 October. It is absolutely vital you register your choice, even if you have siblings at the school already. There is a direct link to the admissions website (even though it is m arked Primary Admissions it will take you to the correct website) SWIMMING POOL DONATIONS - IMPORTANT As you are aware your children swim regularly at our school as we have a pool on the premises. I would like to appeal to all our parents for a donation for 1 a week towards this facility to help us with running costs as this makes a huge difference to its affordability. It is very rare for children of primary age to have such a regular swimming timetable and the standard of childrens swimming is far above and beyond standards seen in other primary schools as a result of this. If you wish to make this donation in a lump sum by the term this would be useful to the school office staff. This would result in 15 for the whole term which is good value. Many thanks in anticipation of your ongoing support!
