Future opportunities:

As of current scenario China, US and Japan are the top three global automotive market inn India with India ranked currently sixth. India to become third largest automotive market in the world by 2016. Investment reform policy will induce better environment for domestic and foreign enterprises. India light vehicle production (is) expected to reach 7 million by 2020." And in terms of production volume India would move to fourth position in 2020 ahead of Germany and Brazil from its currently sixth spot.
Expectations of ford:
Ford expects 70 percent of its growth in the next 10 years to come from its Asia Pacific and Africa region. This region encompasses markets on three continents, including Australia, China, India, Thailand and South Africa. Industry sales in the region increased from 24.5 million units in 2009 to an estimated 30.7 million units in 2010.

Developing India as the export hub including supplying vehicles to recession-hit Europe, and expects as much as 40% of its global sales to come from the Asia-Pacific region within five years. Ford will open in 2014 a $1 billion facility in Sanand, in the Indian state of Gujarat. That plant will be able to make up to 240,000 vehicles and 270,000 engines a year. Gujarat, which lies on the country's western coast, has a vast coastline, making it suitable for Ford to export cars from the region, adding to the Chennai operations.
