The Kozminski University is an internationally renowned and
accredited private business school located in the very heart
of Europe. Like our prospective students, we are young and
ambitious and have achieved much since our creation in 1993.
We offer recognized BBA, MSc, MBA, and PhD programs in
business management and finance. Our course offerings have
a unique international flavor; they are taught entirely in English
by top-notch international faculty with degrees and teaching
experience from prestigious universities throughout the world.
Our students come from 26 nationalities, creating a truly
international atmosphere that enables them to experience the
richness of various cultures blended together with our own
“Kozminski Way” which consists of three main components:
the highest of international standards of academic excellence;
openness to the world; and respect for students’ interests,
empathy, friendly service, and a spirit of togetherness.
Our international relationships focus on both academic and
business aspects. Mindful of our international reputation, we
chose to partner with the Bradford University School of
Management–one of the highest ranking British university
business schools–in offering joint dual degree MSc and
Executive MBA programs.
We have active student exchange agreements with nearly
90 universities located throughout the world. Every
year we receive a cohort of close to 200 international
exchange students; an equal number of our students spend
a semester or two at prestigious foreign universities.
Our faculty members are active in internationally
recognized publications, and our cooperation agreements
with such schools as Yale University in the United States
provide a rich framework for joint international research.

The Kozminski University is widely known and has been

as well as our unique economic transition experience. We

Kozminski’s Dual Crowns

Business schools can earn three major accreditations: EQUIS,

AMBA, and AACSB. These are the so-called three crowns.
The best business schools in the world aspire to earn all
three. Kozminski University has already earned two of these
prestigious accreditations and is working on the third.
Managers who employ alumni of a university that bears
accreditations of such a level can be certain that their
employees have solid knowledge and skills, enabling them to
wisely and effectively realize given tasks.

This accreditation is awarded to the best business schools
by the European Foundation for Management Development
(EFMD), an organization that thoroughly and rigorously

Warsaw: A capital in the heart of Europe

Poland’s central location in Europe makes it a very attractive

base for international companies looking for a place to set up
facilities for their Central and Eastern European operations.
Combined with its dynamic labor market, extensive foreign
investments, and a rapidly growing economy, the capital city of
Warsaw becomes a financial capital of the region–an excellent
place to begin a professional career in business, management,
and finance.
Less than a two-hour drive south of Warsaw is Cracow,
urbs cellebrissima–the ancient capital of the Polish Kingdom–
which for centuries was the place where Polish kings were
crowned. Today, it is the largest tourist attraction in Poland.
Another two hours south takes you to the picturesque
mountains surrounding the famous Zakopane ski resort,
where highlanders still cultivate their unique culture and live
and dress in the traditional manner.
Only two hours north of Warsaw is Mazury, the Polish lake
district, where you can enjoy swimming in clean lakes, yachting,
camping, bird watching or–if you wish–bison in their pristine
environment. Another two hours north brings you to Gdansk,
a former Hanseatic city that was the birthplace of “Solidarity,”
the trade union movement that shattered communism. Today,
Gdansk is a vibrant port and a place of musical festivals and
many other events.
Everywhere you look, you will see historical treasures, castles,
and country manors–some in ruins, others still inhabited–and
churches, most of which are full of treasures crafted by artists
from many countries, particularly Italy and France. You can see
small charming towns or large industrial cities. Living at the
crossroads of Europe for centuries, Poland has manifested itself
in the differences between the regions and in the richness of Warsaw – Old Town Square

Practical matters
Visa requirements & Consular information
■ Foreign students from non-EU countries must apply for
a Student Visa in the Polish Embassy or consulate in their
home country before arriving in Poland. Any student in
need of assistance should contact the International Programs
Office at Kozminski University.
■ An EU student can enter Poland with his/her ID document
(a valid travel document such as a passport or another
document certifying his/her identity and citizenship).
If a student intends to visit Poland’s neighboring countries
(not all of them are EU member states), a passport is
recommended. Citizens of the EEA countries are subject to
the same conditions as EU citizens. Citizens of Switzerland
can enter Poland only with a valid passport.

Medical care and insurance
Students from EU/EEA countries
■ S tudents should come to Poland with the European Health
Insurance Card. This card should be presented when
visiting a public health service institution. We advise you
to purchase medical and casualty insurance in your home
country covering the period of your study in Poland (make
sure the insurance is accepted in Poland).
Students from non-EU/EEA countries
■  verseas students do not participate in the Polish national
O study programs abroad and transfer the credit they have
health care system. According to state bilateral agreements,
they can be attended free of charge only in the case of
emergency (citizens of Russia, Albania, and Bulgaria can also
benefit from such help). However, the costs of in-hospital
medical care and appointments to general physicians
will have to be covered by the students. Therefore, they
should buy health care and casualty insurance in their
home countries for the period of their stay in Poland (such
insurance can also be purchased in Poland after your arrival
through private companies).
European Credit Transfer System

 International Foundation Year

The Kozminski University International Foundation Year

Program aims to prepare international and European
participants for further business studies conducted in English.
IFY benefits those who wish to continue their studies to
a degree level and beyond, but who are currently under-
qualified–both linguistically and in their subject specialization–
to begin their undergraduate studies.

This intensive program can be completed in one academic

year of full-time study. It consists of eight compulsory modules
and one optional module for assessment preparation. The
main focus of the program is increasing participants’ level of
English. Students also participate in courses on study skills,
personal development, and the Polish and European culture.

 BBA Program in Management
The three-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
program (equivalent to a BSc) is designed for students
wishing to pursue managerial careers in both domestic and
international companies. Conducted in English, the program
consists of six semesters. Its objective is to provide students
with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary
to run a company or to perform effectively as a manager. The
program includes a six-week internship.

Master in International Business Management
(full-time/part-time)
The MSc in International Business and Management (IBM)
is a program run jointly with EQUIS-accredited Bradford
University (United Kingdom).
The MSc IBM is designed to educate international managers,
experts, researchers, consultants, and executives, preparing them
to play a leading role in dealing with international business issues
throughout the world. The program trains students in decision-
making skills and helps them develop ideas of underlying business
solutions based on a thorough academic understanding of business
practices. This challenging and rigorous program’s curriculum
comprises a mix of taught modules, practical experience, and
research, providing the knowledge and skills necessary for entry

or researchers. Training in research methods forms an integral
part of the course and culminates in a dissertation–a substantial
and original piece of research. Students will have the opportunity
to spend up to six months abroad as part of the program. The
program offers excellent preparation for those planning to enter
into a doctoral program, either as an academic career in research
or for the purpose of joining major international organizations.
The MSc IBM program has successfully expanded its scope
to reach international students. Many full-time students from
various countries are currently enrolled, making the program

in Management
The Alliance for Business Education International Master in
Management is offered in partnership with four members of
the Alliance for Business Education (ABE)–all EQUIS-accredited
business schools: 1. Kozminski University (Warsaw, Poland)
2. EADA (Barcelona, Spain) 3. Audencia (Nantes, France) and
4. Bradford University School of Management (Bradford, UK).
Each of these four universities selects graduate students
for the ABE IMM program. Students study at their home
university for at least one semester (the first semester), after

which students may complete the rest of the program in one,
two, or all three of the ABE partner institutions. The program
gives participants a unique opportunity to study in up to four
different countries and obtain an internationally recognized
management qualification. The international experience and
knowledge that ABE IMM students gain by living in, studying,
and learning about the four different countries as well as
working closely with the international students in the program
and improving their foreign language skills prepare them for
exciting careers in international business.

 BBA in Finance and Accounting
The BBA Program in Finance and Accounting is a three-year
program conducted in English that prepares students for work
in corporate finance and accounting. Students’ knowledge and
skills are developed intensively, as are their problem-solving
and decision-making abilities, as they focus on formulating,
implementing, and monitoring business strategy and policy.
Moreover, our BBA enables specialization in the fields of
accounting (the universal language of business) and finance.
The accounting curriculum combines the benefits of traditional
accounting skills (under International Accounting Standards
[IAS]) with a broad range of business topics reflecting the
expanding needs and responsibilities of finance professionals.
Graduates of the BBA program can expect to have the widest
possible range of career opportunities in all areas of business.

The purpose of this program is to allow students to gain

English to deliver business English courses. The program of
studies is designed to provide the terminology and phraseology
of the business language, understanding of the basic business
concepts and business skills. It includes the analysis of papers
regarding commercial regulation and mastering rules, forms
and style of different business related documents. Lectures
broaden the specific terminology and knowledge of the basics
of business, finance, marketing and law.
 Postgraduate programs
LLM in International Commercial Law
The purpose of this program is to allow lawyers to broaden
their knowledge of legal aspects of commerce in different
fields. The program is based on experiences of the best
American and European schools of law, hence the scope of
presented material is similar to LLM programs in the West.
The prestigious LLM diploma, equivalent to MBA in business,
certifies the knowledge of international regulations at an
advanced level, it also allows students to compare Polish and
foreign legislation. The international character of this program
(conducted completely in English) also prepares the students
to work with international clients.The program is designed for
those students who already have masters’ diplomas in law, but
want to broaden their knowledge of foreign and international
legislation. Because the program is conducted in English at least
conversational level of English, confirmed with a certificate or
an examination passed before the beginning of studies at the
Kozminski University, is required to participate.
Postgraduate Program in Legal Skills
This course is designed for legal professionals and law students
in the 5th year of their legal studies. It is designed to provide legal
professionals with the practical skills they need to be successful
in the increasingly competitive legal environment in Poland and
Europe. Skills that will be taught are: oral and written advocacy;
identifying legal issues; problem solving; critical thinking; legal
research; negotiation; alternative dispute resolution including
mediation and arbitration and practical legal ethics. All classes
will be skills based, and will be taught using the most advanced
interactive adult education methods including: brain storming,
mock trials, small group exercises, simulations, role playing,
lectures using the Socratic dialog, case studies, and professor and
student on-going interaction and evaluation. Classes will run
during the course of the academic year, meeting on weekends.
The law that will be used in class will be a mix of Polish, European
and American cases and examples. As the focus of the program
is on practical skills development the substantive law will be less
of a focus, as the program will give the students skills that will be
transferable to any legal environment or system.
English for medicine
The purpose of this program is to prepare the medical staff
to function in professional environment where knowledge of
English medical terminology is required. Due to its specificity
it is designed mostly for doctors, who communicate with their
patients in English, and those who are in medical professions
and plan to undertake employment abroad. The program is
conducted at intermediate and advanced level.
WirtschaftSdeutsch
This program is designed to deliver contemporary knowledge
and skills necessary to function in a German-speaking business
environment.The purpose of the course is preparing managers
and entrepreneurs for using German at work and teachers to

The two-year Euro*MBA program offers a mixture of residential

The Kozminski University holds faculties to award PhD

degrees in the field of Management Studies since 1998. In
2003 as the only non-public university we have been given
faculties to also award senior doctor degrees (habilitacja).
The main purpose of PhD studies is to prepare students to

THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Every full-time Kozminski University BBA student is required
to participate in an internship program that enables them
to gain practical knowledge and become familiar with
a corporate environment. The internship is usually organized
and supervised by the “Forge,” the Kozminski University Career
Center, although a student is allowed to find an internship
individually. In such cases, a relevant agreement must be signed
by the university and the company at which the internship is
to take place, which includes a framework program for the
time the student is to spend with the company.

Kozminski University organized a photography competition

for students who participated in exchange programs
called “Kozminski PhotoExchange”. Students who studied
at universities all over the world submitted pictures
documenting their life–studies, work, entertainment–in a new
environment. Paulina Rzęsista, who took the photo to the left,
is a management graduate who visited Athens University of
Economics and Business in Greece. She earned an award of
distinction during the PhotoExchange competition.

 International exchange program

International Exchange Programs

Participating in an exchange program is an inherent element

of studies at Kozminski University. Every student who has
completed the first year of studies, speaks a foreign language,
and has good academic standing can apply to take part in an
exchange program at one of nearly 90 institutions worldwide,
including locations such as Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France,
Spain, Singapore, the United States, Sweden, Hungary, Great
Britain, and Italy. Our international cooperation is regulated by
agreements within the ERASMUS program and our bilateral
agreements. Each year, more than 100 students spend the
semester studying abroad, while about the same number of
foreign students comes to Kozminski University.

Students Play Against Racism

In May 2008, Kozminski University hosted a soccer competition

organized for students visiting Polish universities as part of
the ERASMUS program. Students manifested their support
for a society called Football Against Racism in Europe. The
Kozminski University team, which included students from
Portugal, Germany, Spain, Romania and Belgium, ranked 2nd.

There are 24 sport sections open for students’ participation
within Kozminski University Academic Sport Association:
aikido, bridge, chanbara, ergo meter, golf, horse riding,

Kozminski University won first place and a gold medal in Polish
Academic Sport Association Championships for our general

through Friday (4 pm) until Saturday. These sessions also take
place every two weeks.
