Welcome to Unley Park Baptist today. It is great to have you with us. If you are new to Unley Park, we appreciate that it can be daunting to walk into a new church, so as much as we can, we want to help you feel at home here. In the pew in front of you please find a black folder that contains a white care card for you to complete. There is also a "Welcome Pack" available for you that, among other things, has a special Care Card for you to record your visit and for us to follow up any requests you make. All Care Cards should be "posted" as you leave the church, in the locked box on the table by the "Baptistry Door".

Just a Minute
A few years ago Lyn and I bought a Euro Pass so that we could travel first class across Europe by train. It was a 14 consecutive day pass that had to be validated on the first day of use. We were in Rome so we made our way through the busy station and found the appropriate counter to get our journey under way. We were wanting to take the overnight train from Rome to Zurich. However, when I spoke to the man behind the counter he refused to validate our pass. He didn't speak English well and I didn't speak Italian at all. However, we soon managed to work out we had a serious problem! He told me the first date on the pass was tomorrow. I told him when you travel overnight you are required to put the next days date on the pass. I even showed him the fine print to prove my case. He just looked at me and threw his hands in the air and said 'No'! I spoke to him in an unknown ancient Italian dialect and then asked to see his boss. With that, he just turned his back on me and stood there facing the back wall, waiting for me to leave. Where was I going to go? I was 15000 kilometres from home with no one to help me and an invalid rail pass! We did the only thing we could do. We walked along the platform and boarded the train to Zurich. As it left the Station at 8pm I said to Lyn the worst that can happen is that they will put us off the train somewhere in Italy in the middle of the night. We sat there waiting for the ticket inspector to come. They didn't come...until 12.15am. By then it was 'tomorrow' and when the inspector saw the date he validated my pass! Only then did we sit back and start to enjoy the trip. Finally, someone had validated our ticket! Who or what validates your ticket? Who or what makes you feel like you have a valid purpose in this world? Who or what makes you feel like a worthwhile person? Sometimes we look for that from other people. Always trying to impress or measure up. We sometimes hope that our ability or achievement does it. We can assume that our position on the pecking order of life gives u s a sense of validity. Listen to these amazing words from Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Masterpiece!! And God declared that before we were even born and before we ever achieved a single thing! Thank you Lord for validating my ticket! God Bless Neil

Newcomers Information Session

If you have recently commenced attending Unley Park you are invited to an Information th Session which will be held straight after the morning service today, 13 October in the Lounge. This is an opportunity for you to find out more about Church life and to meet with the Pastors, the Ministry Leadership Team and Church Leaders in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The session will be brief with hot & cold drinks available. Please come and join with us for this occasion. If you have any questions or concerns please see Garry Gooden.

After church prayer meeting

Our next church prayer meeting is planned for Sunday 20 October, following the service in the lounge. Would you please put this date on your calendar and plan to join us for a short time. Would be great if many will wait on God and see Him answer our prayers.

Operation Christmas Child

Thank you for helping us with Operation Christmas Child. th Please return all boxes no later than Sunday 20 October as they are st to be delivered to the Samaritan Centre on Monday 21 October. Your boxes can be left with the display at the front of the church or under the Operation Christmas Child table by the Baptistry.

October School Holidays

Parents please note that UPbc will be in recession during the school holidays. th UPbc will resume on Sunday 20 October. The Creche facilities will be available for you to use with Babies to Kindergarten age children only as these facilities are specifically age appropriate. Children are welcome to bring their own games to use in the Main Hall during Coffee time. (No ball games please)

Leisure Club
CHRISTMAS MEETING WITH SOUL FACTOR. The Leisure Club has purchased 24 tickets (two tables together in front of the stage) for the Soul Factor Christmas Production For unto Y-all; A Cowboy Christmas for Sunday afternoon, 1st December at 2:30pm. You are asked to purchase tickets ASAP from Frank and Val Park at $20 each (group booking price). Personal accounts have purchased the tickets.

Our Missionary Families

The Badger Family Tim, Bron, Joshua, Amie, Annalise & Kaitlyn OMF, Manila, Philippines We have still not heard anything from the Australian Embassy (and Stephen, can't seem to get any information either) about the status of the girls visas and with the new school year starting in just over a week, we have needed to make some decisions. These have not been easy and we have been feeling quite stressed about the enormity of the uncertainty (which includes the knowledge that our landlord wants us to move out by the end of August). Please pray for a peace that surpasses all understanding as we wait out this final stage.

Leisure Club
Join the Leisure Club as they visit the historical Neumanns Nursery in the Adelaide Hills. The original nursery dates back to 1856. Enjoy afternoon tea at Topiary Caf.

Date: 18th October 2013. Time: Please be at the church no later than 1:15pm Transport will be arranged.

Cost: $12.50 for afternoon tea. The Nursery There will be ample time to wander through the nursery and enjoy the beauty, fragrances and variety of this historic nursery.
