Worksheet 1:
Have you heard about the two friends who came across a bear while they were walking
together in the jungle?
Two friends and a bear
One day two friends, Tom and Sam were walking in the jungle. They were happy to be with
each other when all of a sudden they heard a loud roar. They saw a huge bear coming towards
them.
Sam ran and climbed a nearby tree leaving his friend behind. John who did not know how to
climb a tree fell to the ground in shock. He turned cold and lay with his eyes closed. The bear
came close and smelt John. Seeing that he was not moving, the bear took him for dead and left
him and went away.
Sam climbed down the tree and joined Tom as if nothing had happened. Tom was upset that his
friend had not bothered to help him.
Sam was curious to know what the bear did when it was close to him. Tom replied that that the
bear advised him to stay away from people who are not true to their friends. Sam felt ashamed
and wanted to apologise but it was too late.
