Screen setup

1500ft (~5 minute walk)

Circle circumscribes workspace

Create a square, somehow. (Perhaps drag from the Lilac logo?)

150ft (~0.5 acre square)

100ft deep

Square is 150ft square; surrounding lots are 100ft deep

10ft gap

Lots are 10ft shorter than the square. Handles are in the middle of the sides.

Still 150ft

Modifier-click a handle and delete a side. When triangular, handles are on corners.

Still 150ft

Drag a triangular squares side out, and its the other two that change. (Need to give this more thought.)

Still 100ft

Modifier-click and drag a handle (up) into the lot, to curve the lot. Depth remains 100ft so sides curve.

Drag thinner. Below 2:1 ratio, end buildings disappear on the thinner end. (You can still bump another street up against the end to close off a side, if desired.)

Drag a wider street

Rotate

Change transect (somehow: shift click to cycle through? Or choose and paint transect?)

Dragging together

Connecting

Pick up T3 street

Can be dropped here

Cannot be dropped here: place overlaps lot, but not connected

Cannot be dropped here: place overlaps lot, but only one corner connected

Can be dropped here: connection made. Moved lots shown behind destination lots. Round nodes indicate intersection. Arrow indicates dominant transect for corner lot.

Can be dropped here. Moved space reduced as its dragged under the destination space.

Dropped, transects resolve

Click node to change arrow direction, and so dominant intersection transect

Squeet (Square/Street) Model

Place: Has four or three sides. May be rotated. Each side has a transect (T3 to T6). Each side may be curved out.

Lots: Slave to place side: cannot be independently moved, resized etc. Also get their transect from place side.

Brownfield Interaction

Existing building or planned civic building. Assigned transect colour to indicate approximate height / massing.

Halo buffer around building

Halo connects to space dragged on top

Perhaps better site planning to make building focus of a square

Approximate Goal

Small thin squares and big fat streets

Placeta d'En Marcs, Barcelona L

Open at both ends, though, so maybe really a very short street.

Montagu Square, London

Also open at both ends, actually

Av. De la Grande Armee, Paris

Open at both ends.

Waldeck Pyrmontkade, The Hague

Open at both ends. Transit on grass in the middle.

Rue de la Republique, Lyon

Cars permitted to travel
