NewSat receives plan consent for Adelaide teleport expansion


NewSat lodged a development application with the City of Salisbury for Adelaide teleport City of Salisbury has confirmed Development Plan consent for the facility expansion Expansion will support the operation of Australias first Ka-band satellite, Jabiru-1 and fleet of Jabiru satellites.

NewSat Limited (ASX:NWT), Australias satellite company, is pleased to announce t he City of Salisbury Council have granted Development Plan consent for the expansion of NewSats Adelaide teleport facility in Mawson Lakes, South Australia. The planned facility expansion highlights the growth of business in SA and more specifically, the City of Salisbury. A larger teleport facility will advance global innovation, assist technology development and increase high tech job availability. This consent acknowledges NewSats success to date and the opportunities that NewSats Jabiru-1 satellite and the teleport infrastructure investment in South Australia will create for local industry. The land acquired for the teleport expansion doubles NewSats size and presence in Mawson Lakes, South Australia. The multimillion dollar investment in key infrastructure and the development application plan that has received consent includes a number of large antennas, the Jabiru Satellite Control Facility and Jabiru Customer Support Centre, upgraded power systems and generators, major expansion of existing networks and infrastructure, as well as other enhancements to security and equipment. The teleport expansion is integral to the growth of NewSat and its plans to launch a fleet of satellites. Jabiru-1, Australias first commercial Ka-band satellite, is expected to generate in excess US$3 billion of revenue over 15 years. The City of Salisburys economic and development team, operating from the Polaris Centre in Technology Park, have worked closely with the company to support the application process. NewSat is focused on global enterprise and government customers across mining, oil and gas, construction, defence, government, carrier grade telecommunications, disaster recovery and media sectors. The new teleport facilities in Adelaide will provide satellite communications including video, voice and data communications for enterprise and government markets, requiring remote area connectivity. With rights to eight premium orbital slots, NewSats Jabiru fleet of next generation satellites will lead Australias space quest and will be supported on the ground right here in Adelaide.
