NEW DELHI: As it agonized over the desirability of projecting Harsh Vardhan as its CM candidate, the BJP leadership was apprehensive of Vijay Goels reaction, reckoning that the state party chief may retaliate against the snub by engineering sabotage. The fear of subversion was what delayed the announcement on Vardhan even as almost the entire leadership had come around to the view that he was the best bet. The worry, however, was belied by Goel who responded to the rejection with a grace that few had so far associated with him.
