Madaba, Known as the City of Mosaics in Jordan, is the fifth most populous town in Jordan. Mount Nebo, the alleged burial site of Moses overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. " From the Mt. Nebo Franciscan Monastery you can walk down to the Dead Sea. It's a long walk (about 25 kms) through some terrific landscapes. No real path to follow: just head down towards the Dead Sea. Keep always track of where the main road is: if you're tired you can try to find a lift. Take care of some aggressive stray dogs around. There are no villages along the way, so bring enough water with you."

Description: It was an unusually pleasant February morning when we arrived at the inlet of Wadi Karak (N31 16.178 E35 35.208). We parked our cars next to the fenced water reservoir built to collect the piped wadi water for irrigation purposes. We walked along the side of the fence and descended to the dry wadi bed.
