Welcome

October 27 2013

Welcome to Unley Park Baptist today. It is great to have you with us. If you are new to Unley Park, we appreciate that it can be daunting to walk into a new church, so as much as we can, we want to help you feel at home here. In the pew in front of you please find a black folder that contains a white care card for you to complete. There is also a "Welcome Pack" available for you that, among other things, has a special Care Card for you to record your visit and for us to follow up any requests you make. All Care Cards should be "posted" as you leave the church, in the locked box on the table by the "Baptistry Door".

Just a Minute
FAITH TO ME. I came across this article on faith this week by Chelsea Houghton a mother, author and childrens pastor from New Zealand, and thought that it was more than worth sharing: Faith to me is life. In our world today, particularly in my peer group, faith I think can be seen as an optional extra, even something that you dont need at all. It is far more than that. It is what I was created for. We were created by God for Love and to Love. That takes a life time. A relationship with a true and living God, Jesus Christ. Faith cant be segmented into a section of our lives. It isnt just an important part of life, it covers all parts of life. My faith makes the rest of the world make sense. It reconciles personal sufferings with happiness. It gives me a joy and optimism that many I know without faith dont have. My identity and a way of life, that is often hard, is still joyful and in many ways, logical. Dont get me wrong, its not always easy. There are many ups and downs, desolation and consolations. Its hard standing out in the way that we live trying to be faithful. As highlighted the Christian life is NOT easy. Often conflicting, confusing, challenging and frustrating, but for those who know me know that my constant and unchanging view is to: Be still and know that God has a perfect plan and purpose for your life. So, this week remember and believing just that, make time, and spend time with God .and know. God bless, CC

NSW Bushfire Appeal

Weve all been watching with horror the unfolding of the bushfire crisis in NSW and many have been wondering how they might offer support. To address the impact on churches a bush fire appeal has been established to raise funds for the churches in the fire zones to provide invaluable community support and aid. How can you help? Go to www.mybaptistchurch.org.au/donations to make a tax deductible donation to the Bush Fire Appeal via Credit Card or a pledge that can be paid by Credit Card, Cheque/Money Order or Direct Debit.
