Dear Mr. Odom,

My name is Allie Eber and I am interested in working with an inner city ministry this next year. I have heard about Memphis Athletic Ministries (MAM) from the Cloutier family. I have a strong interest in MAM because of the vision and purpose of preparing students for college and guiding them in their younger years of life through sports, Bible studies, and tutoring. MAM seems to have a desire to motivate the students through love where they may never receive that attention elsewhere. Ever since my middle school years, I have been intrigued with inner city communities. The start of my desire to possibly work and live in neighborhoods like Binghampton, Orange Mound, etc. later in life most likely stemmed from going to Service Over Self for six years. SOS exposed me to the reality of many peoples everyday lives and to not take where I get to live so lightly. I love the community and how much it seems to have grown over the years through many ministries. There is so much need in communities like Binghampton, where there is an undeniable lack of education and other resources. To explain a little of my resume and experience, a few summers ago I worked at Kids Across America and Point 11 as a counselor and a cook/staff. The camp seeks to glorify Christ through teaching kids that come from urban neighborhoods all over the country about Jesus and having tons of outdoor activities for them to do. I learned a lot about the types of situations kids in inner cities have had to encounter in life at only the ages of 12-14. The experiences at camp have definitely changed more of my views on how many younger kids have to experience life everyday. It puts life into perspective. This year I have been interested in working in Memphis because I would love to serve my local community. Having an internship and possibly housing in a neighborhood in Binghampton would be a great way to get to know the community. I have a desire to see kids grow, learn, and become motivated. I love working with people and being challenged in life. Memphis Athletic Minstries appears to have that mindset of sharing the love of Jesus and motivating kids to succeed. I would love to spend my time there promoting health and nutrition to the kids and sharing the love of Christ with them. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you have any further questions about my experiences or abilities, please let me know.
Sincerely yours,

Allie Eber
