Finding the future
business leaders
ONE of the largest cam-
paigns undertaken to iden-
tify and develop Wales
young entrepreneurs of
the future has been
launched by the Welsh
Government, backed by
Secret Millionaire Kevin
Green and SuperStars
entrepreneur, James
Taylor.
Hundreds of young people
throughout Wales, including
Newport and South East
Wales, are being invited to
apply for 50 places on the Big
Ideas Wales Challenge,
launched by Deputy Minister
for Skills and Technology,
Ken Skates AM.
The Challenge will scour
Wales, interviewing hun-
dreds of young people aged
between 16 and 24 years of
age, seeking their big ideas
and helping to develop and
cultivate 50 of these into
commercial opportunities.
Entrepreneur James Taylor
will act as an ambassador for
the Challenge. He began his
business, Superstars, with a
bursary under the Welsh
Government Youth Entre-
preneurship Strategy (YES)
in 2005 and has grown the
business that now employs
more than 180 people.
As part of Welsh
Governments Youth
Entrepreneurship Strategy
this flagship challenge has
been steered by entrepre-
neurs to support future
entrepreneurs. James Taylor
will therefore be an excellent
ambassador for the Chall-
enge, said the Deputy
Minister.
Wed like to encourage the
business community to
pledge their practical sup-
port to these young entrepre-
neurs. Everyone in the com-
munity knows just how chal-
lenging it can be when youre
trying to start up your own
business so to have the help
and advice of someone who
knows and has been through
that process is invaluable.
The business community -
entrepreneurs, role models
and others partners - will be
invited to make individual
pledges practical support to
help these young people on
their journey. This will com-
plement business start up
support already in place by
Welsh Government and part-
ners.
Speaking at the launch,
James said: We really need
to inspire and harness the
entrepreneurial talent in
Wales. Through this Big
Ideas Challenge well take
them through from initial
auditions to a three day chal-
lenging bootcamp. At boot-
camp theyll work with
entrepreneurs and experts to
build their confidence in
their ideas.
The Challenge begins with
the auditions in December at
venues throughout Wales,
backed by pledges from busi-
nesses, individuals and
organisations to support the
50 young people, followed by
the boot camp in January.

City auction house is in the running
for UK property industry honour
PAUL Fosh Auctions has been shortlisted for a top
national industry award.
The auction house, which is based in Church Road,
Newport, is in the running for the residential auction
house of the year in the prestigious industry magazine
Negotiator Awards 2013, sponsored by the Zoopla
Property Group.
Paul Fosh Auctions, the largest property auction house
in Wales selling more homes at auction that any other in
Wales, is up against some of the most respected busi-
nesses in the UK.
The awards, which have a total of 23 categories cover-
ing every aspect of property, attract entries from the
cream of businesses working in the industry.
Paul Fosh, managing director, said: It will be a tough
call as we are in a group of nine very well-known and
respected auction houses from right across the UK. It
would nonetheless be a great coup for Paul Fosh
Auctions to win this award following our last success in
2009.
The awards ceremony will be held at The London
Hilton, Park Lane, hosted by TVs Hugh Dennis on
November 5.
The auction house, which sold more then 2.5m worth
of property at its October sale held last week, is now
inviting entries into its last auction of this year. The sale
will be held on the Thursday, December 5, at The Park Inn
Hotel, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, starting at 5pm. The closing
date for entries is Tuesday, November 5. Call 01633
254044 or email info@paulfoshauctions.com for details.
